Lovely idea but I think I agree with the others about the IR pink effect. |

I think the dancers need to blend in with the clouds more. |

Great effect, must give this a go myself. Only criticism is the changing colour of the border which irritates me for no good reason. |

Clever creation, might work even better with a more human figure starting off. |

Thanks, I'll have a serious think about that.
I am not so sure about the yellow colouration and was actually wondering last night whether it would be better in black and white. |

Good shot, I agree with the other comments. The spot healing brush tool (with content aware turned on) is easier to use. |

This is an interesting pic and I can see why it attracted you. For me there two aspects which IMHO deserve some attention (1) the shadows are cast on a cement pavement which I think would be better with some detail (2) shadows are a bit flat and get lifted if you were increase the contrast setting in Lightroom. I have had a fiddle with your image and also took the liberty of cropping it quite a bit. What do you think?
It's the kind of image which most likely would get "nul points" in a club competition but none the worse for that.
Do keep at it, I like this kind of image. |

I meant the author has caught the figures when not crossing in front of each other so looking "messy" |

Pleasant travel picture, good scene, nice light, colourful with something going on. The figures don't cross. My only negative is the area on the left hand side with the yellow roof doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the picture and the pavement there is essentially empty; I would be tempted to crop it at about the level of the left hand bicycle. |

Julie, welcome to the group.
Good to catch this image even when first up and not expected. The sepia toning adds to the impact, however this is possibly a bit overdone (dark) to my taste. I agree that this is a back view of the boat moving forwards right-left so having space to the left is OK but I think I agree with the others that maybe better to include a bit more of the right hand side.
My only other comment is that there appears to be some fringeing (especially noticeable round the funnels) and it would be better to fix this before the toning. |

There's a lot to like in this picture and all credit to you for walking the mile in the snow. The S shape creek is good as is the sky but I agree with others that the forest of trees across the middle kind of blocks the view through. Yes, some of the tree details are totally black, not sure this matters and one can see through parts of the forest. But also the snow does look a little "grey" at least on my screen.
I really think the way the light catches the right hand mountain really works and lifts the image. There does seem to be some haze between the forest and the mountains (this is not necessarily a negative comment). My feeling is this needs slightly better lighting to lift this image into the "good" category, As the others have said, you go there repeatedly so if you get the opportunity revisit in good weather when you get the chance. Good job! |

This blue toning I find over the top and unnatural - it doesn't (to me) look icy cold - just false. Sorry. Others may disagree, this is all personal. The original (which is clearly taken on a winter's day), however, has lots of alternative post processing possibilities which in my opinion might work better. There is some very nice subtle lighting here, the sunset has some nice illumination and shadows around the bench so highlighting this and enhancing the orange of the sky would be an interesting effect. Alternatively, bringing out the clouds in the sky and a turning the image into black & white with a cold-blue toning effect is another possibility. But overall these perhaps won't look "brr cold".
Have you considered photographing the ice fishing which I am told takes place in the bays of Lake Superior? That might well be more of a "chilly" subject. |
