Great combination of blended images which is most effective. I am not sure about the text either - I don't think it is needed and catches the eye too much. |

Glad to hear you are OK in Oz. It's a concern for us all.
You don't say how you achieved this, could you elaborate? I really like the background, I would prefer both birds to be more similar but that's me. |

Welcome to the Group, Jim.
I very much like the idea; I am not sure about the "gate / fence" which I think is a visual blocker to the view of the buildings (but might be missing the point here). Yes, worth more development work. |

I think I agree with Mike here, I prefer the original perhaps with the left hand window and the fire extinguisher cropped. And not so fond of the "drawing" treatment. |

Yes I agree, Moira. In retrospect I should have slightly increased the size of the canvas at the bottom as well, as the edge of the flare cuts the bottom of the image. i am not sure it is worth spending any more time on this though - it isn't "that" interesting! |

In a still life you are in total control of the subject, background and the lighting. You don't say what f stop or shutter speed you used but overall the image is a soft, the lighting is flat and, TBH, the mirror reflection doesn't really add anything. Alison's suggestions are good - Georgia O'Keeffe produced did some amazing art with shells. I would be tempted to go for much more contrasty directional lighting and see how that works out. |

I didn't see Mickey either. The foreground, in particular, looks a bit soft. What f stop and shutter speed do you use?
I would be tempted to crop the left hand side and foreground out. |

This is a really useful tip from the magazine and good to keep trying something new.
I think the faces are a little underexposed and could do with lightening a bit. To me, this looks like there is a bit too much yellow in the lighting and I wondered if this needs a touch of adjustment. Also, I find the light spots in the background a bit distracting and think the overall effect might be helped by use of a star burst filter. |

A very pleasant Christmas picture. For me, I would take a slight trim off the left hand side to remove the branch highlights. Also the 4 large white blobs in the background are rather too prominent IMHO and better cloned out (or toned down).
This is one of those occasions where the use of a starburst filter (or a very small aperture) would really lift everything too. |

I think the flame-like colouration is a definite improvement. I agree the flower has been a cropped a bit too tight. I would have taken the flower with a card or piece of cloth behind it as I think the background, as it is, detracts especially with the orange coloured bokeh |
