This is a beautiful image, Brian. You were so fortunate to have such a nice sky. Your edits have worked well to give the statue her glory. The blue orb surrounding her works very well. I do agree that the orange blaze across her face is distracting. I would like to have a horizon of sorts. The statue and base appear to be floating. |

Good use of vertical and horizontal blur, Jan. Your masking to blend the two layers together is superb. The pastoral image that you have created is well blended with the textures and use of invert. B& W was a good choice as it removes some of the clutter. |

Beautiful work, Fran. You have worked the image well to give the feeling of the "spirit" of the First Australians. Making the face more abstract by reducing the opacity and masking it helps to produce the spirit effect. The final increasing of intensity of the colors with the curves layer brings the image to life. |

Good job, Gunther and welcome to our group. You have used an interesting color palette. The white has created the road with its curves to lead your eye through the image, and depth to look deep down into the image. The blue, red and yellow surround the road and hold the image together. |

Brian, it has generally been my experience that the preferred orientation is for the bird to be flying into the frame rather than out of it. |

Steve, you have used a really good idea in your image. I am fond of dead and dying flowers, too, especially roses. Your background works well. It makes a nice color palette to go with the daffodils and dark red amaryllis. The tall dying amaryllis gives the feeling that it is leaning over and talking to the youngsters. I do feel that the daffodils are a bit too crunchy. Softening them up a bit instead of applying the same edits that you used for granny amaryllis would give them the young, healthy look that you wanted. Good job. |

You might like to see my osprey from this month in my other group, Group 34. It was edited with textures. |

Thanks, Brenda. I first used selective color to reduce the red (magenta). Then a texture was added to give more texture to the background and eliminate the streaks. Then deep emerald photo filter at 59% opacity was added. Some of the streaks in the background were cloned in spots. Nik pro contrast was used to remove the color cast and increase the contrast. A final neutral texture was added to pull the image together. |

Thanks for sharing more of the features of your country. The coloring/lighting on the emus works well, and the tallest bird in the front is well photographed with the eye as an outstanding feature. |

Excellent work, Brenda. The change in background lighting was a good choice as well as the vertical crop. I like Isaac have seen the scrub jays only once at Merrit Island. |

Jacob, you found a very interesting subject. However, as has been said, it is competing with a busy background. A different angle would have put the skunk cabbage in front of the green leaves and would have made the background less of a problem. Sometimes shooting from a low angle is the best choice. |

Pierre, you seem to have fulfilled your desires on what to show in this image. I think that the snow shower is not completely obvious without the title. I initially thought the snow was trash in the water. I agree that the image is somewhat bright and needs more contrast. |

You captured a darling little, young squirrel. I think the image would be improved by cropping in tighter on the squirrel. It is about the squirrel; there is too much tree. Increasing the contrast would help to make the squirrel stand out from the tree. |

Good capture, Mervyn. The bird is at a good angle with a nice, curved leading line. You have a good, sharp eye with detail in the bird and fish. |
