Good work, as always. I love the motion blur on the background. The placement of the birds is perfect, especially the one bird in the tree near the houses. |

Welcome to the group Gwen, we are so glad to have you. I look forward to more of your creations. As has been said the work on the background and birdhouse is well done. I agree that the cats need more work and do like Jan's idea of one cat. |

Wonderful work. This took some thinking as to how you were going to put the image together. The outcome is superb, reflection and light trails work so well. |

Beautiful work, Alan. I do believe that I would have removed the blue writing on the egg carton before beginning the project. You have placed the dancers in the egg shells with flawless layers. Steve's addition of a background seems to pull the image together, better than the solid black. I love that you left some of the eggs unbroken in the carton, Great work as always, |

Great job, Steve. It looks as if the trawler is rocking in the storm. Adding the shoreline gives it a sense of place. I admire your patience in building the boat from matchsticks. Darkening the trawler made it fit into the storm scene. Good job. |

Brenda, the head, eye and lores stand out much better now. The highlights have been reduced enough to remove the brightness of the wing and back. Sometimes it is better to use your eye rather than the histogram to decide about the brightness of whites, especially on white birds. You should always make allowances for monitors or projectors that give a brighter image. My way of deciding is-do you see texture in the feathers and definition of whites between the feathers rather than one solid blur. Good work. |

Mervyn, I darkened the background after removing many of the distractions. The branch with the reeds was left as this is a nature image. I felt that it showed where the bird was obtaining the materials to build his nest. |

Brenda, the bird is building a nest from the reeds that you see wrapped around the branch. I darkened the background by selecting the color from a darker area and painting that color at a low opacity to bring down the brightness. |

Geoff, love this. The bands give such nice texture and character to the sandstone. The dry riverbed leads the eye through the image. Thanks for sharing. |

Brenda, good crop, good action, and beautiful wing placement. I would brighten the eye and reduce the exposure on the bird's back and wings. The one thing that judges seem to always take points away on is the merge of the head and wing. They seem to like to have the head holding its own with nothing behind it. |

Jacob, everything has been said. The brightness is difficult to control in white subjects. In general it is always a good idea to dial the exposure down. If not, you lose detail and texture. Next time get closer and pick one flower. Keep shooting. |

Pierre, wonderful capture of the young gosling. It is beautifully sharp with good texture. There seems to be a vertical cloning line running down from the mother's leg through the water, in front of the gosling. I would remove the three grass sprigs and maybe crop up a bit from the bottom. Good work. |

Dean, you have a peaceful sunset capture. The colors in the sky make the image. It might be helpful to use the Adobe Camera Raw filter to reduce the highlights and improve the colors and definition of the sky. In my opinion, cropping off the majority of the grass, leaving only the part with the water reflection and ending up with a long skinny panorama would be an improvement. |

Mervyn, you captured a beautiful bird and beautiful reflection. The fact that the bird is doing something is a plus. As for the background, it is nature, that is where it was. |
