34 Aug 17 Comment I really agree with Phil about adding to the background. I think Phil and I are more simplistic. I always am driven to the images with an uncluttered background. Aug 14th
34 Aug 17 Comment Nice image, Christine, showing the interaction between the boy and bird. In my opinion, there is too much background that is competing with the main subject. I softened the background with the ACR filter and lowered the clarity and brought the tree, boy and bird back with a layer mask. I also used transform to enlarge your subjects. Then a crop. Aug 11th
34 Aug 17 Comment Excellent image, Steve. You certainly have a hot and cold side.the textures work well with the overall image and really bring out the features in her hair and face nicely. I might crop a bit off of the top and soften the gritty texture across the bottom. Well done. Aug 11th
34 Aug 17 Comment Good job Helen. You now have a very colorful image that has lots of interest. The colors help to move your eye around the circle. Good choice on the colors.the sky is beautiful. I feel that the image might have been improved if you had left the lake a slight bit lighter and retained some of the detail in the reflections of the tufts. Also, the moon should probably be a squiggle of light rather than an exact duplicate and maybe bigger. It seems a bit lost. But you have a wonderful image. Aug 10th
34 Aug 17 Comment Jan, you have done a splendid job of meeting your requirement. The frame is perfect and the placement of the orchids gives the depth you were trying to achieve. The orchids themselves are quite lovely and the white looks beautiful against the dark background. The only thing I might add would be to soften the edge of the tree to make it appear to fade away. Aug 10th
34 Aug 17 Comment Georgianne, in my opinion, you have created an image that brings nature together with development. It has lots of possibilities, but I feel that there is too much going on. I feel that the image is too bright , and the birds are competing with the background. The final texture feels too hard (crisp) to me. I pulled the great egret's foot into the ground. The front foot seemed to be floating. Also softened the background by reducing the clarity and bringing egret back. The bird is a Great Egret, not snowy. Snowy egrets have yellow feet and are smaller. 34 Aug 17 Comment Beautiful, Phil. You created a wonderful, dreamy image by reducing the clarity. It has such a nice soft feel.It is a lovely rainy day in the park image. The only thing I might do is remove the white spot in the water. Aug 10th

69 Aug 17 Reply I do some mentoring on a one to one basis, mostly just for friends. I would be more than happy to help you through email. Orlando is three hours away from us and Christmas week will be way too hectic. Aug 14th
69 Aug 17 Reply The background I used was a black and white texture that I blurred a slight bit. the texture is added as a layer on top of the image and the blend mode changed to soft light. I then changed the white balance to a little cooler temp.

I received as part of a course I took call ed Creative B&W. It is from Silver Wings.I looked for Silver Wings textures on line and could not find it.

69 Aug 17 Comment Rob, you caught a beautiful moment. The still water gave you a perfect reflection. You have nice feather detail in the whites and sharpness throughout. The diagonal angle of the bird coupled with the reflection brings the viewer's eye to the point of the V. Nice job. Aug 11th
69 Aug 17 Comment Brenda, you made a good choice to give your image the antique look. Your processing has given more texture to the elephants and has made them pop out from the background.

To me the shadows are a little strong and the highlights somewhat bright. I used the ACR filter to reduce the haze, bring up shadows and lower highlights.

69 Aug 17 Comment Chuck, the colors in your image are nice variations in blue. The darker rain clouds bring some energy to the image. Nice texture in the foreground.

I wish the image had a definite subject rather than just an expansive landscape, somewhere for my eye to land before moving through the rest of the image.

69 Aug 17 Comment Pierre, even though this is an image that is mostly green, your dragonfly stands out as the subject. The dragonfly has nice sharpness while the background is soft enough to let the subject shine. Aug 11th
69 Aug 17 Comment Dean, this is a nice peaceful sunset image. It gives a restful feeling to the viewer. The colors in the water certainly add to the image. Aug 11th
69 Aug 17 Comment Mervyn, this is a beautiful image. The curvy line of the sand dune is outstanding. the layers of multi-colored sand in the foreground lead the eye right into the image. the little tree gives a nice perspective of the massiveness of the dune.

In my opinion, the two "sticks" to the left of the tree are not adding anything, and I would remove them. I might brighten the image just a bit.
