34 Feb 18 Comment We witnessed gull attacks last summer in Mousehole, Cornwall. Feb 24th
34 Feb 18 Reply Hmmm. I showed (digitally, projected) the original, the new "blue" version above and my "final" to a local group of photographers. Most preferred the final, one liked the original and a few liked the blue. Statistics, averaging all responses including this group: most males liked the final; most ladies liked the blue!!!!! 34 Feb 18 Comment The enhanced contrast of Steve's version helps. As is , it feels a bit flat. Feb 16th
34 Feb 18 Comment I'd vote for a larger bird also. Feb 16th
34 Feb 18 Comment Thanks for the suggestions. The main reason I did not stop with "Original 3" was that the fine foliage at the base of the groundcone had been lost. So now I have eliminated Step 4, applied another inverse Curves adjustment layer with a backwards S shape, then added a B&W adjustment layer (all colors -200 except Cyan+25 and Blue -100; layer in Luminosity mode). Then I stamped up and applied Nik's Color Efex 4 with Detail Enhancer and Tonal Contrast only on the lower foliage. Now the foliage comes through. Feb 16th
34 Feb 18 Comment Definitely an homage to Klimt. Your methods of creating the dress and background are amazing. The lady (hand, face and chest) though does feel pasted on, not quite really a part of the rest of the image. Feb 10th
34 Feb 18 Comment I like the twirl effects but here they overwhelm the face. Perhaps a strong vignette centered on the face would help. Feb 10th
34 Feb 18 Comment The kind folks at the local Forest Service office tell me that the plant is a northern goundcone (Boschniakia rossica). It is a parasitic herb, growing only in far northern latitudes. Feb 10th
34 Feb 18 Comment Well done. Your new background works very nicely. I might be tempted to burn in a bit her necklace, but otherwise it is perfect. Feb 10th
34 Feb 18 Comment This is a neat idea and I like the overall effect. The seagull though seems too dominant. I think the image would work just fine without the gull or if it were much smaller and it's beak not so colorful and prominent. Feb 10th
