34 Oct 20 Reply Thanks for taking the trouble Georgianne. I thought about brightening the spider more, but decided that that it should be dark and menacing.
There are several things with this image that I'm not happy with, probably because I rushed it. Hopefully I'll do better with next month's.

34 Oct 20 Comment Another superb image. Well composed and executed. The texture pulls it all together very well. And I love seagulls!
I have to ask - How come the boat ran aground? Were the sailors blind, or drunk, or suffering from some kind of virus?, or did the lighthouse keeper not pay his bills?
Anyway - it's an excellent image and it makes me feel a bit like the boat - Wrecked!
Well done again!

34 Oct 20 Comment A good composition, but as Jan and Alan have noted, it's just not right with the lighting.
In composites it's important to get the light on all the elements coming from the same direction (unless your looking for something surreal). I use a separate layer and paint the shadows where I think they'd work - you can always reduce the opacity in that layer if you feel it needs it, or try a dfferent blending mode.
I feel that it's the soldiers who need the light / shadows treatment. The compositoon is good and I think it's worth spending some time on.

34 Oct 20 Comment I think this is superb. The treatment you've used has worked so well.
Walking towards the light is something I think we could all do with just now.
Here's a self portrait I did many moons ago - called 'Coda' - which is in a similar vein - just not as good as yours!

34 Oct 20 Comment WEll seen and well worked. The texture layer has made such a difference to the image. Well done. Oct 15th
34 Oct 20 Comment Well put together with a good treatment. Apart form Jan's suggested alteration I think it's excellent - best of luck with the competition. Oct 15th
34 Oct 20 Comment A good idea, which I don't think quite does it. Maybe if some of the gyroscope was lost in the smoke it could improve it. As it stands, the gyroscope isn't grounded with the rest of the image.
Maybe I've just got a dose of instabiltiy and chaos!

34 Oct 20 Reply Thanks Alan. Good idea about the replacement. Jan's suggestion about shadows would help the pasted on look. Oct 15th
34 Oct 20 Reply Sorry about the spider, but I couldn't resist it! I'll try to do better next month!
Thanks for the shadows suggestion.
