34 May 19 Reply Mine is a MerryNine K9 80 mm (3.2 in) dia. from Amazon. The instructions I've seen recommend using a wide angle lens, but I've found a mid range lens (around 50 mm) for the sphere shots, combined with a wide angle for the background works well - but that's using Photoshop. Maybe with a smaller sphere you'll need a longer lens. May 26th
34 May 19 Reply Maybe this month's wasn't aimed at being a piece of artwork, rather a different slant on landscape, with the help of compositing in Photoshop. May 14th
34 May 19 Reply A glass cleaning cloth is an essential piece of kit with a sphere - I've had times when a wave has washed it off a stone and caused the odd scuff too - so glass polishing equipment comes in now and then. And a towel for my feet when I'm not watching where I'm going or where the sea is coming! May 10th

This could go on all night, but it's getting late!

34 May 19 Reply Looking forward to it!
How do you like seaweed?

34 May 19 Reply Thanks Jan
I've corrected the Original 1 - it had grabbed one from next month's image!
It's often a shame when another potential image needs to be cropped out, but I decided that the sphere should take centre stage, so the weed had to go!
There were a few dog walkers about, but it was early morning and very cold, so the day trippers hadn't ventured out yet - suits me fine.
I did a few more in the same ilk - here's one just for you, with barnacles!

34 May 19 Reply Just a coincidence - the course was about commercial refrigeration plants (like the ones we were using offshore for meat rooms and freezer rooms)
The airships were quite amazing and so BIG.

34 May 19 Comment What a breath of fresh air (or hydrogen). You've lifted my spirits higher than an airship!
I can only echo Helen's comments. It's well composed and well processed, with that touch of the eccentric - superb!
As an aside - I saw one of the original airships at Cardington airfield in Bedfordshire while I was on a refrigeration course which was run in the old workshops in the late 1980's. They were still flying them then and produced hydrogen on site.
Thanks for another amazing image.

34 May 19 Comment It's good that you're having some success with your computer and still managing to get some playtime with the swirls. Hopefully your new tech guy will come up with the goods!
Thanks for sharing this with us. It looks as though it was fun!

34 May 19 Comment Well thought out and produced. Having a plan is something I haven't had for a long time - I'm jealous! Usually it's just a matter of taking an image for a walk to see where it goes.
Your treatment is excellent. Well done.
I feel that he should be touching something in the water, so I've added a frog:

34 May 19 Comment A very pleasing image. Good composition and colour. It's good to see your own texture being used.
I think the flower is bleeding heart which we grew many years ago, but hasn't lasted - at least I've got photos for memories:

34 May 19 Comment This works really well. The 3D effect is excellent.
The shift key works with many of the Photoshop tools, to make straight lines - clone tool, eraser and all the drawing tools etc. It can be used to quickly segregate areas in masks which can then be filled with the fill tool.
The drawing of rooms can be great fun - this is one I did about 10 years ago - Musicroom in Lightroom

34 May 19 Comment A wonderful conversion. You've brought out so much detail. I particularly like what you've done with the eye and lashes.
Your use of the mask is excellent - keeping the hair detail isn't easy. And using the texture for the background has worked really well.
Well done.
