Thanks Mark - we'll have to wait and see what the judges say!
Thanks for looking in. |

Applying is easy enough - have a look at https://psa-photo.org/index.php?stars-and-ropa for the instructions, download forms etc.
Have a look at the dialogue I've been having with Jan - it looks as though her husband and yours may have things in common! |

I like to use Topaz ReMask which I find very good at separating things like hair and fur.
I think it's wonderful that people with disabilities can be as good and often better than would be 'able' ones can.
I enter internationals too - you'll get used to the Goths, Steampunks and Folk dancers I use in creative images - you've got to be different to make your mark. Have you got, or are you working towards PSA recognition? - I'm working on my EPSA but it'll be a year or so away as I only enter exhibitions when I've got new images to use rather than using the same ones in several exhibitions. |

I really like this. You're obviously very adept with Photoshop and various plugins. I'll have to look into Lucis Art - I've never heard of it.
The cutting out is really good - what did you use?
I like the way you've used flood. It's easy to overdo it (I usually do), but just using the bottom of the image really works well.
An excellent first image. I'm sure we're going to learn a lot from you. Thanks. |

Thanks Georgianne. You're right about the hat. I did this in a hurry, as I wanted to show the lady her image the next day (she was quite pleased with it).
I've brought the hat back here: |

And another - not quite as tame! |

Excellent - again you've made favourite of the month for me.
The composition is spot on and the amount of interest in the image gives something to attract the eye, over and over again.
You should get to Whitby in February or July when we have Steampunk weekends. Here's an example of one of the visitors from July - a relatively tame one, but one that worked for me. |

Looks like fun!
I can see what you were aiming at. I think it would have worked better if your husband had been facing you, so that the pumpkin becomes his face (much as the apple in Magritte's painting). This would have allowed you to lighten his face, which would have made the pumpkin merge better.
You've done well with this and I like the humour. And what ever you do, don't stretch your husband - we're not designed for it!! |

I like this a lot. You've worked it very well.
I too like the red areas you've brought back. They really make the image. The toning of the reds works well too.
Well done. |

An interesting development, which, as Georgianne says, could be played with some more.
Thanks for the detailed explanation. It gives us something more to play with in many images.
I've had a quick play, just using the lasso tool (with a 50 px feather) and colour balance with the inside ring and outside area. Just a play to make it even more colourful. |

A very fine portrait of a very fine bird. You've worked this well.
I like the sepia toning that has brought the eye to Tom. The cropping is just right too.
I think that leaving the darker area in the background enhances the image - it gives a sense of place, which may have been lost if you'd lightened it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too - I wonder what Tom thinks about it! |
