Mary Anne, Having read the other's comments, I tend to agree. I see that you did lighting the entire image from the original. The use of a graduated mask is a good one and not often thought of, so Michael once again has some good thoughts. That's about the only way to get a nice gradual change in lighting.
Your moon is well exposed, showing the craters. That is probably why the overall photo was so dark. It is. a very moody phot, and well worth taking.. |

Kieu- Hah,
What a great idea to take something other than the tripod hole shot we see so often. This is fascinating and I love your wide angle approach to the wonderful tiles. My only suggestion would be to darken it a bit, maybe one str as the tower is very faint against the light blue sky. How lovely that you were able to go there. |

You have done a great job on these fig trees, emphasizing the root structure. You especially did good work in removing the bright spot on the original and I think your conversion n to monochrome was an excellent choice. Very nice work. No suggestions for improvement. Our fig tree in our California yard looks very different, but we do appreciate the fruit. |

Robert,
Your final product for the deer is quite lovely. She is looking straight at you and you have brought more excitement to her face. Your cropping is good and removing the green stem from her body also helps prevent diversion in regarding her lovely face. The bvbackgroud is pretty busy. You might consider darkening it a bit.
Nice work. |

Your discussion of what makes the best series is a little too esoteric for me. I understand that two are colorful and Michael wants to emphasize the graffiti as an art form. My critiques is more boring. I like the idea of the colorful graffiti. In the mail picture, I would lose the foreground that is so bright and takes ones eyes away from the good stuff. I also wander if we shouldn't. see at least one photo that shows the actual Salton Sea as part of the picture. To bring it all together. Boy, I sure do't envy the people living near this area which has gone from beautiful to not only horrible looking but also dangerous to the heath of all those living in the area. I think the photos that you have shown, Michael , are excellent and truly depict the horror to which the Sea has sunk |

Andres, I love that you found this an excellent photo subject. At least the pebble got something right. All of your originals are interesting and any one could be used as the final product. I think because you came in closer for your final result, there are fewer cracks to see. You used those other lines which show up in some of th originals in your final output and it gives more interest to the image. However, I do like tiny cracks better for some reason. They're all great, I think and aside from maybe having more of the cracks showing in your final product, one is as interesting as the other. I see that you took he as a series which was a good idea. |
