You caught her at a perfect time with her hands placed exactly where you would want then. She is a charming young lady and really looks the part. Your exposure is good and I like the way the light is cast across her face If I had my druthers, I would make the background so it exactly symmetrical as I keep wanting to shift it to the left.. If you were very confident with the clne took, I would replace it altogether with the blue curtains.. Otherwise it is excellent and gives us a good feeling of what the fiesta was all about. |

Ruth,
I think this is an excellent way to depict the lake, with the ripples around your granddaughter's legs. the fading away into th distance, you can still see the other shore an the beautiful mountains that surround it. Pleacing your grandchild right in the center works well in this instance and it a good reason to break the thirds rule. T he child is the center of attention, which is alternatively the lake and deserves to be in the middle of the photo. the only thing I'd suggest is to remove the white objects by her feel. What a remarkable shot. One to keep for the ages. |

Robert, I have not looked at what the other said. The obvious plus is the big cropping without loss of sharpness when you are showing the image on a computer monitor. We have so many pixels on our newer cameras that one ca do that without fear of loss of sharpness. The conversion to B&W was almost a no-brainer and works well, making itthe image look even colder. the farmhouse and silos still maintain a feeling of loneliness which was very evident in the original, but the lack of any other buildings in sight continues to give the feeling os isolation. the snow makes it even more so. My only suggestion would be to crop a little more off the top to remove all of the white sky and keep our eyes in the frame. lucky you to have a pilot friend.. It would be fun to take a private plane ride once in awhile. |

this is a winner in both pictorial and nature. Th bee is tack sheep; you can see every hair. The blue flowers which I'm glad Kieu-Hanh identified for u as borage, are a great ploy to th golden side of the image with the bee. The blue and yellow are at opposite ends of the color wheel, very pleasing. The two blue flower parts under the bee don't bother me, so it would be up to the maker to decide on removing them It does give a continuity to the flowers Very nice work

I like this better than your other version. For one thing it is different enough to be creative. For another the colors are more interesting This is really a lovely version. My only suggestion would be to bring a few of the pink flowers in front of the white branches which would make it more realistic but in a good way. Not nearly enough to take from your creativity. Thank you. for not giving up on the photo and your revisions of it. |

Chan,
This brings up the question of what is creative. In my opinion, in a creative group, you need to end up with something that looks really different or that has a creative concept to it, not just make it look better. That's what we do in the regular digital dialogue.I hate to be so negative, but this is too realistic for me and does not belong in this creative group. |

Ian,
It would be nice too seee all of your similar work. The filter you used in Buzz, which I never heard of, works so well and give such a painterly feeling to the whole image. May only suggestion would be to put the soldier next to the car, one side or the other. You could put his on the side nearest us to emphasize him more. In that case I would not reverse flip him. I just think he is too. lost way on the left side.
This was a very good idea and I'm happy to peruse it. It has a feel of something old because of the technique you used. Nice work. |

The Harold Davis thing should be looked at since he uses different exposures without moving the flowers, then combining them in {photoshop one layer at a tie using layer mask, Hide all, the picking up what he wants to add to the fist ad lightest exposure from each layer subsequently. It gives a feeling of transparency tot he petals. This color change you suggested ias yet another step and therefore quite intriguing.
You can find extensive detailed videos on you tub. Just go the Harold Davis Lightbox photography |

Gunter,
It looks like the light box photography Harold Dais. His method gives a way to make the flowers look transparent. But it is brilliant to change the color and to also produce a B&W image of the same flowers, then work with them in layers in Potosop to produce a combo that is unique.I hope you don't mind if I suse this idea for myself. This method would give every person working with this his or her own artistic reward and everyone would do it differently. Kudos to you for the concept. Jim's suggestion is quite nice. dIt does make the petals stand out more, but I have to give you +++ for tje idea Good job! |
