LuAnn,
I borrowed the camera from our tour leader, Richard Martin. It was in the early stages of digital photography. I can't remember how much I cropped that photo as it has been some time now. I think it was heavily cropped as I liked the abstract look of the crop. I never use Lightroom as I am a log-time Photoshop user, so can't comment on the affect of Lightroom. I applaud you for seeking out the information about the camera. Since it wasn't mine and sine I switched shortly thereafter to ikon D200, I would never have kept that info. For some reason I am not very interested in the camera settings as the outcome is more important to me. Sorry it was soft but we were using lower resolutions then and it WASl blown up. Thank you for your comments. |

I see that some members were able to remove the people, but I think they serve two important purposes: 1 They give a sense of scale. and 2. They give us something to lead our eye to the end f the ph too with a reward. I would leave the. Very nice lighting and omposition.

Kieu-
And that has made all the difference. The bird of paradise was lost in that busy background and you did an excellent job extracting it so you could place it in the black background. What method did you use for the extraction. Did the subject filter work in PS? It is a lovely photo now and well worth the effort it took to make such a clean extraction. |

I think this works incredibly well as a creative image, what a wonderful thought process you have. So glad you added color to the tulips as this makes them a lot more realistic looking but in such a strange environment of the ice.I also like the semi-transluced look of some of the tulips. Very well done |

Your photo really gives us a sense of the beauty of Mt. Cook and its environs. I'm glad you were able to get the light in the valley as it really makes this photo. On Jeopardy the other night they had the question of what mountain was most prominent in New Zealand and, of course it was the one named after Captain Cook in the 1700s. Showing the trail with the tourists gives us a sense of the size of this mountain and also shows how appreciated it is by the many tourists to view it. New Zealand would be a wonderful place to visit someday. |

Your cropping of your Jelly fish is perfect and I particular love how you chose to get the strand from the middle fish flowing along in the same direction as the top jelly. Your lighting is perfect for this and, as usual, the jellies are so unusual as subjects because of their softness and totally unknown idea of where they're going next. I think you did a very nice jb of capturing them so we can really;y enjoy6 them. |

Hi, commentators,
Because I thought of it as an abstract, I didn't worry abut the coloring being oversaturated. Thanks, Rutg for the suggestion of b ringing out the uff or reddish whatever they areThis area was probably about 15 - 20 feet in height..If I have time, I'll try to make the changes to show you |

Jim,
Great creative idea. The only change I would make would be to lessen the opaqueness of Eisenhower as to my eye, he seems pretty solid and I though initially that the room might have. been set up like that. Ike was quite a military figure and president. Not only the quote you gave us but his whole stance against the military-industrial complex, which we didn't heed, unfortunately.. You did a great job including the lighting of the chapel/ |

Gunter,
It looks like you did th same thing I did, which was to duplicate, flip, duplicate ad flit again, but you added the water to the image making it much more interesting than mine. I think you have achieved what you tried to do very well, It is an exciting image. As for the line that passes in the middle, it doesn't bother me, but if you want to get rid of it , just use content share on the healing brush and draw a line through it.
I like the bright center with draws our eye into the image and the raging water which gives it a sense of energy. |

The new photo is much more interesting. Again the Frctalius look which comes from the Top filter. It just makes the whole thing more painterly and exciting . I assume St. Petersburg is in Russia. No. best stay away. Hope this doesn't escalate into a bigger wr.Your methodology really brings out the primary colors of red, blue ad yellow in this image, giving it a lot more oomph. Your composition, as was pointed out, is excellent and we can really enjoy looking at the cannon. Nice work. No special suggestions. |

I love your Fractlious look, which is very well achieved in your image. The colors are terrific. I think the orange water really shoves this into the art of creativity. As for the flipping, I have always been of two minds. Coming in from the left you immediately hit the front of the bots, which is a positive. With flipping , you hit the back end of the boats, so it could go either way AFAIC (as far a I'm concerned.) Nice job. |

Thanks, Ian,
I see that now. My. eyes are terrible with macular degeneration, so I often miss things like that. |
