I forgot to say that Carmen was ill this month, so it has not been a very good month. Please welcome our new member, Charles (Al) Wood.
Hope next month will be more active. |

Rick, you do an excellent job with the iPhone. The little cherub and the lilies are really charming. The lighting on the statue has good contrast between the light and shadow areas. Your flowers are sharp front to back. The little guy looks like he's contemplating how to make the lilies even better. I also love your overall lily garden original. How nice to have such a beautiful garden. Clever to have chosen this close-up and angle for the angel and the flowers. |

I also like what Rick has shown us. The black area was less disconcerting than the white thing with snaps. The photo is beautiful and very well photographed. The lighting is excellent; you have nailed it. I'm not sure you need lighting lessons for flash as this is so good.
Addendum: We had a very poor turnout this month. George Bebout is leaving us as he has family problems. I haven't heard from Tianji for awhile and Linda is a bit erratic in sending in her images. We need to get a few new members to make this more interesting. Thanks to those who are participating. |

I forgot to say that this has a very strong three-dimensional effect, which really adds to its intrigue. |

From Spring to Autumn. Walking around the tree and taking many photos with your wide-angle lens is a great idea and creative to start with. I really love the way it came out, still looking like a real tree. To me, I actually like the original more because there is more contrast between the tree and the background. The colors in your newer image remind me of Fall, but you have lost some differentiation between the tree and the sky. I would try to retain a lighter sky, if possible, restraining the later changes to the tree area only. You have an interesting creation here, with a lot of work on your part. Thanks for sharing. |

This reminds me of a face with an interesting nose, the mouth being the dark area, probably the shadow under the "nose." Could use some eyes. You have changed the original just enough to make it really interesting and give it a creative punch. The use of the ragged border helps. Are you aware that N4C is now disallowing the use of third party borders since it is not the work of the maker? This is hot off the presses. Don't know what PSA thinks, but they are probably not so fussy. Susan is in the N4C Council area, as a word of explanation.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what the original was. A light? |

The image is we'll-constructed and a good composition. I agree with the others that something should be on the large expanse of white of the mountain to break up the large negative space. I really like your process and the outcome. Good thinking! |

Brian,
They have a mummified feel to them because of the striping you created around each head, maybe through the use of Polar Coordinates. This adds to the title Frozen in Time. I also think of them as being a game or a toy that someone could play with, taking the heads out of the background and putting them back in. I like that your final size was not square, as is so often the case, in these double flips, but rather a vertical layout. I think you enjoyed yourself putting this piece together and it does conjure up a lot of different concepts. Well done! |
