Rick, this is lovely. Your dog is lovely; the way you used the painterly oil effect is lovely. I just want to jump into the picture and pet him. You picked a wonderful background for Augustus. Great work! |

Such a beautiful sky. Just capturing the sky with only a faint sun setting works here. It gives us a wonderful feeling on immense space. Good job. When the Hubbell telescope shows us its incredible pictures of the universe, we are awestruck. You have succeeded here in giving us something of that same immensity.

I think these two are fabulous. They have posed perfectly for you. The expression on their faces is priceless. I do agree that cropping in on the left makes it even stronger, but even as is, it is a wonderful portrait of these two women. |

Tianji,
Some kind of eagle, maybe golden. Beautiful shot, great nature story. I like the way you've filled the frame and how the ice makes such a great background. Exposure is terrific. Sorry to be so late with my comments, but I couldn't get a password to work. I had to change browsers eventually. |

Further information: I looked it up and surprisingly it was 1/100 second at ISO 1250, so I assume it was fairly dark. The lens was set to 150 mm. |

You are clearly very creative. Thinking ahead is always a good idea for creative work. The use of waterfalls to produce those walking spirits was incredibly imaginative. My only suggestion is to break up the two on the left and put one of them in a different position, maybe a bit more to the right. Otherwise, I wish I had been so inspired. I feel that the opaqueness is just about right. I see from what you have further described that it is a single spirit on the left. If you keep it whole, I would move the spirit on the right a bit further to the right. We are happy to have you as one of our new members and will be greatly challenged to keep up with you. |

Nancy,
Wonderful abstract. You must have done more that just twirled that iris with all those interesting lines and striations. The colors are delightful and I am wondering how you got the rainbow effect. Everything about this pleases me with the exception of the upper right corner, which I feel is too dark to match the rest of your image. The flowers are so delicate, but we are faced with a negative space in the true sense. I would crop in on the right and top a bit to alleviate it. Otherwise really great. |

This is really beautiful, Susan. I love that you used only a small portion of the dandelion and that you utilized its rays to point us to the moon in a sky that has some character. Because of the strength of the image, the bug is not necessary. I'm not sure how you achieved the creation of the way the seeds have taken on so much contrast, maybe, as you mentioned, the Topaz filter. It is exceptionally well-done and a great first addition to our group. |

John,
I think I liked your last Coke composition better. The use of the mosaic tool to produce a puzzle-like effect doesn't work as well as actually showing us jigsaw puzzle pieces. I'm not sure where you can get them, but I am sure they can be found. Peter's suggestion is a good one, but we all have our concepts that we want to portray. In this case, a real set of jigsaw pieces would work better, in my opinion and you could cut a few pieces off and set them on the side, maybe showing a partially finished puzzle. |

Barrie,
I really like this one of yours, quite different from many you have shown us. The star tracks seem to pull the trees together even though they don't follow the tracks. The combination works really well Excellent job.
Personally, I don't think it needs a third element. |

That ring really stands out. I like the way you added the oil paint feature to it to make it a really unusual wedding band. Your idea of getting in close and zooming the radiation from the ring across the fingers works well. Maybe I would have pulled back a little further to see more of the hand, but this is the maker's choice. |

Thanks for your comments. I prefer the original although I have no problem with darkening the highlights on the balloons. |

I also duplicated the string to the balloon, copied it twice and rotated it using the transform tool to angle it appropriately. |
