A very pleasing image Pam. I think you have done a great job blending the hat and the lights. My preference would be to erasre a little more from the eyes, nose and lips as they are always the point of interest in this type of shot. Pehaps you can re-visit after you recover from Sunday's event. |

What a super result you have produced with excellent textures. Were it mine I would dispense with the bottom third so that the image is squared, and consider cloning out the line in the top left corner.
There must be potential to use this technique togood effect on other images. Well done. |

You will see I have chosen this version as my preference although like yourself I think both are great interpretations.
The only small issue I have is that black corner lower left which could usefully be cropped off. Otherwise I love the vivid colours and swirls.
The second version accomodates the black because it is all around the main colour interest, but I would choose to clone out the few red whiskers. |

Should have mentioned that I removed the oil paint effect from the central horse using a layer mask. |
