Vertical crops are fine for prints - they don't tend to do so well in digital competitions - except for when they do! I don't see a zipper - I think it is a seam! |

You must be better at cropping than me, as I could get nothing as good as this! |

Because I added a mono layer and reduced the opacity to get the effect, it was always possible to delete that part of the mono layer to restore the peanut's original colour. |

You can't really crop this image as you need to have the stalk leading up into the image. I tried cropping at various points but it did not work, If you had used focus stacking you could have got everything in focus. |

Both colour and mono work, but I feel that the colour version is more effective as telling the story. |

I wish folk would take care with their picturesque log cabins to have more aesthetically pleasing roofs. Another reason to use the crop tool! I am always hesitant at producing images in portrait mode. It works with prints but does not do so well as landscape or square formats. I have kept the landscape form and kept an "out" to the bridge on the right, where the eye would naturally follow. |

This is always a problem with photographing trees - the light shining through at the top. What is the most interesting part of the images? The detail at the bottom. Capturing mist can be very difficult, so simply chop out the top. It may not be what you were aiming for in the first place, but at times it is best to cut your losses and go for something more effective. |

Great capture. You saw the moment and took it. Well done. There is an odd colour cast to the image - Bob thinks blue, my wife thinks magenta. I can't make up my mind what it is, but retreat to the position that I am always told that women have a better grasp of colours. Shirley's comment is valid, as in many competitions the background is black and the image bleeds into the background.
I added a mono layer, and reduced the opacity until I thought the peanut (?) looked right. Is this any better? |

You have captured a good group here, with all the bison in the frame. The steam makes it a very effective image. |
