Hi Ian
Well done!
Don't forget the next Hoylake PS competition is People. I expect to see this image entered. |

Mustn't leave it too late to comment. Everyone else has said what I might have said if I were earlier. Agree with the suggestions. |

Well done for capturing sunrise - not something we tend to do - early mornings are anathema!
I would be inclined to crop the sky. |

Great capture. Perhaps not the sort of guy you might ask to pose. My wife is quite happy to go up to folk and ask their permission for a photo, whereas I am more reticent.
I like what Bob has done. I might try to darken the background more. |

I remain unconvinced by the brightness of the border - I find it distracting - it keeps drawing my eyes to the edge. I think borders need to be subtle.
Lovely capture of the flower. I agree that some work needs to be done to the background, either by cloning out the distracting labels, or by darkening more. |

Or why not go for broke and go for an "artistic" look. This is a Topaz oil painting effect with the opacity dialed down. Again, probably not what you were after, but it's what I might play with. |

Tranquility is all very fine, but it does not always hold the attention of the viewer. I agree with Shirley - I think the image lacks impact. Perhaps that is what you wanted.
In addition, I think that the image is essentially one of a tree with Mount Rushmore as an afterthought. I would crop it so that the tall tree is not central and Mt Rushmore becomes more obvious. |

We go most days to the local swimming pool in a vain attempt to get fit. What we find amazing is the number of folk with tattoos - some of them in very strange places. One sees a lot of folk in swimming pools and changing rooms - all sorts of bits and pieces not normally on show. Not for us, but it does not offend us, as such - just a feeling - gosh I wouldn't do that - I wonder if it hurt - where on earth does that tattoo actually end? |
