Tracy, the proof of the pudding is in the eating... What a spectacular improvement that slider adjustment made on your photo! |

As usual, a fascinating shot of another culture. Petty criticism is awful and I apologize in advance. The areas with blown out highlights are distracting. Is it possible to reveal any details from them? The flower petals are a wonderful touch and add dynamism to the image. Soft focus is off a bit but not objectionable at all. Great travel shot! |

nice shot, Norm. My father's father came thru Ellis Isle. more than 100 years ago. I like the color effects you've manipulated and the shapes and shadows. I'd frame and hang this just as it is. |

dI concur with the comments on sharpness and focus point. It is a beautiful image with glorious color. On the upper left border of the frame there is a leaf (?) that is out of focus and it provides a fuzzy highlight that grabs my eye and pins it there for a moment. I'm not sure what to say about the top of the frame where some leaves are cut off by the frame. |

Unique subject, Harriet.I think a highlight on the eyes would be a good idea as well. The focus seems a little soft on my computer. Some sharpening might help but I doubt it would do the whole job. (I rather wish that I had made my picture a bit sharper as well) If you could recrop, I think that moving the fish to the left in the frame might help.
One of the suggestions that I now remember from the NECCC was to shoot in bursts so that you "action crop" by examining up to half a dozen versions of each picture. It allows you to throw out the frame where the subject blinks, etc. |

Really nice shot, John. It brings smiles when people look at it. I'm in general agreement with the observation regarding the darker background and the tonality of the picture. This is such a good shot in B&W that it deserves a touch of Ansel Adams. d |

Thanks for the comments !
I thought about giving her a few adjustments to her complexion. I'm still not sure which way to go. If I do too much she gets the awful "plastic face" look; not far enough and it looks under done. Thanks for the guidance, Carroll. Tracy, I think you may be referring to the crab apples. I could certainly make the changes you suggest. |
