Wow! When I first saw the image I was expecting to her you say something about post processing or the use of software filters. Very imressive shot. I tried some UV lighted pictures in the past and discovered that putting a UV filter on the camera made a big difference. That limited the exposure to only the light resulting from luminescence.
An impressive image, Herb! |

I like Norm's suggestion about a vertical orientation to reduce the sky. Just be sure you have enough space for the worker to step into. The picture is a little "center-heavy" with the wall tower smack dab in the middle. That is a personal preference but I think the bright/dark area composition issue in composition is important.
Unless you are going for the cold grey day look, I'd suggest warming the picture and increasing the contrast and brightness a bit. |

I agree with the comments above. I'd suggest looking at a vertical orientation for the picture which would result in a tighter crop (we used to say, "if it ain't tight, it ain"t right). The loss of detail in the white petals can cost you points. Large areas of light or dark, are compositional elements by themselves and need to be dealt with as such." There are loads of techniques for doing this; pick one and get familiar with how it works for you. I like Viveza and you can't beat the price for it since NIK software is FREE from Google. |

Another great eye catching job! The best piece of advice I ever got was that I should stand in front of beautiful places when taking a picture. This photo really captures the eye and holds it. The ground pattern, the detail in the shadows, and the edge to edge sharpness combine to make it a delight. Bravo! |

So that's what they look like... ugly as chicks and ugly has adults. We have loads of them in central Florida and they look spectacular flying overhead. This is a super nice photo!
I think a tighter crop might help and I would not hesitate to suggest a catchlight in the eye of both chicks. Wjere is the blue tint coming from? Would it be worth changing the white balance if you shot in RAW? |

This is a nice sharp image and the choice of B&W is a good one. I like the composition's use of the arch and the slight vignetting is really good. My only suggestion is to tone down the bright area between the bottom of the picture and the rail. |

Thanks, guys, those comments are very helpful. I tried to 'work' the scene but started getting fishy looks from some people. |
