Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
19 May 17 Comment Wow from me too! Stunning - don't change anything! Surprise its so sharp at 1/50 sec; they must have held this pose for a few seconds? Guys - are you saying that you cant get this intensity from a UV light scene unless you have a UV filter on? Wouldn't that filter out UV wavelengths? May 23rd
19 May 17 Comment Surprise! Most images of the wall are of tourists or Chinese folk out for a stroll on the wall. The worker really makes me think of the thousands of laborers who built the wall eons ago. Nice capture of him in the 1/3 point of the composition. The pattern and undulation of the wall itself on the right is just super. Love the way it swoops down and back up again; gives image lots of motion. His gray shirt echoes the wall color. With all the gray, the gold tower in the background adds a splash of a different color. His skin is a darker shade of gold which also adds contrast to the gray. I just wish his shovel was not touching the tower roof, but you cant stop the action and say - "hey, tilt you shovel up for me"! May 23rd
19 May 17 Comment I also agree - really nice pose. Strong diagonal line of the harp backbone leads right to her face. Placement of her hands creates a circle with her face and front arm, in which the eye goes around and right back to her face. Yes, the tree branches are too harsh, particularly the vertical black one that appears to be piercing her head. Baskets are OK, but clone out the red item in them - pulls the eye that way. I'd also take the time to get rid of that large leaf behind the strings. May 23rd
19 May 17 Comment Very nice Norm. The original long crop would have been nice if it weren't for some of the interfering branches. Curious, how close were you to the flower for this shot? The flower itself is just super. I like the soft pink, white and the interplay with the green of the leaves color-wise. The background is very nicely blurred. The leaf color is essential in this image, but I don't think the arrangement of the leaves is ideal since they are as strong an element as the flower. May 23rd
19 May 17 Comment Great image! Like the freeze-frame pictorial effect! So much to look at; an incredibly interesting picture. Did you notice you captured an odd number of people -7? Its great that some people are standing, some sitting in the background, and the woman sitting at the base of the statue - all add to the story implied. The undulating street is just mesmerizing. Great that you captured the side street - also adds sense of depth and interest. I also think the statue placement is great - many times an unexpected placement is far more interesting. At first I thought "remove the tower lines", but then I decided I like them because they relate the true sense of place. Irish pubs...oh yeah! I would love to have this as a 1000 piece puzzle! 19 May 17 Comment Great 'historic' shot. Due to the steam all around it, seems like the locomotive is bursting out of the arch. Tracks act as leading line, arch is really nice frame and adds texture as well. I suggest cropping the secondary arch off the right margin to see if you like that better. I played with it in SEP - you might find some presets that emphasize the image and make it even more dramatic...if that is an interpretation you like. May 23rd
19 May 17 Comment Thanks to all - I think this is the first time every reviewer's critique was unanimous! Yes, it is the mother's tail. They hovered over the nests constantly, nearly impossible to get a shot without them in the image somewhere. I will make the changes you all suggest..thanks! May 23rd

60 May 17 Comment A great specimen - even though its monochrome orange, it has several shades of orange. Lots of lines leading in or out of the center, juxtaposed by the strong center circle. Drops add nice shine and interest. Center also adds lots of texture. Suggestion: I flipped the image since the center seemed to be pointing slightly downward. I also cropped it - see what you think. 60 May 17 Comment Very nice! Really like the colors and light that you captured. Angle of light makes the bloom's rear petals translucent and just rakes atop the center stamens. Almost looks like a bloom made of very delicate china. One suggestion - OK 2! I like it even better turned so the bloom is pointing upward (SEE VF). When I did that I immediately noticed the bit of branch in what became the upper right corner - distracting; suggest you remove it. May 23rd
60 May 17 Reply Thanks for suggestion - I think both work. Yours feels more like a studio shot; mine is obviously a 'site' shot. May 23rd
60 May 17 Comment I think the vignette was a good idea, but I suggest you soften it a great deal and feather the edges as well. Its a bit harsh as it is. You might also make the yellow less saturated OR try a white vignette. The center of the image is nicely arranged with an odd number of pistil/stamens. Like the way it splays outward toward the viewer. May 23rd
60 May 17 Comment EEK! Nice diagonal flower petal as the 'stage' for this attack. Bright pink color adds drama to the event. Like the way the background material is nicely blurred. The point of action - where they intersect is nicely sharp. Good catch! May 23rd
