Thanks for your suggestion. I wonder what a polarizer would do (something/nothing)? |

I agree with the above two comments. Was he posing for you, or walking up the steps? The somewhat shallow depth of field at
f/2.8 places emphasis on the main subject. |

This is a lovely shot in a lovely location. I live about 2 miles from there. It took me a few minutes to realize that the chicks are framed by the mother's legs, and that the legs make a natural frame for the chicks. Based on that, I would crop a short distance outside of the legs, thus making it portrait orientation. Consider selecting the eyes, then brightening them a bit. |

I agree with Stan's evaluation. The Renaissance Fair you attended takes place annually about 20 miles south of where I live, and I've also photographed this lady. I try to "work the subject", even though a few people don't like it. Here is an example of the same subject taken in 2012. It looks like she's wearing the same dress. Comments welcome. |

I prefer the cropped version. It has good detail in the white area but a little more saturation might be even better. The upper leaf leads me out of the picture, so I would select it and blur it a little more. |

This is a fine rendition of the city square with enough detail to tell the viewer what you saw and experienced. Unless you are constrained by competition rules, I would eliminate the TV antennae and wires. On the other-hand, in my pictures of Israel, I leave the roof-top solar water heaters in place, because I consider them to be a part of the scenery..... |

This is a fine "portrait" of the locomotive. To me, the brightness of the foreground gravel gets more attention than it deserves and competes for attention of the steam, which is more important. Next, consider darkening the small area at the upper right. |
