I once attended a Bar Mitzvah of a friends grandsons in Jerusalem. I couldn't find it and asked a sephardic jewish man walking through and he said, they are all at the western wall. I said but this one has women at it, he looked at me rather discussted and said, I don't know anything about that. I found the bar mitzva in the part still in some state of ruin. My point is women can't be at this, so they positioned this bar mitzva right next to the section that allows women looking over the barrier between the regular part and the part that allows women so they could be part of the ceremoney. I think that makes this shot very special. You have captured this fact about their culture. The expressions of the women are great. You might crop the right a bit to reduce the impact of the man on the right. Seeing that barrier and the women behind it tells the story very well. If you are lucky and the judges understand it this should do very well in perhaps PTD or PJD. |

At this time of sunrise, the scene is changing fast. Too much sun showing, then just right with sun and then no sun, just the remaining golden light. The important thing is you caught the moment that the light and colors were still great in the sky and foreground, and you had the blue mountains in the background. Well done. |

The sidecar wheel up in the air makes the shot. The timing was so important to this that I suspect you might of been taking a burst and selected the best shot. Picking a team with good color and helmets helped make this an excellent sport shot. |

Back in the mid-60s I drove through Valley Forge Park from my apartment in King of Prussia to my work in a Valley Forge industrial park or whatever the name was. I enjoyed the drive and lunch at those stone buildings with signs that read "Washington Slept here" was delightful. Thanks for bringing it back. I am not a fan of the green either. The only tone I like much is sepia and then be careful how much. This is personal preference however. The tree on the right could frame the other tree, but they intersect a bit so moving the camera to the left would probably improve the shot. |

Cutting off part of a cowboys hat is just fine, the image of his face generally enlarges with better detail. There is even a name for the technique which I can't remember. The message I think is just don't make it look like a mistake. If you do it do it so it is not just a little. In this case I don't think it improved when I tried it, so since the image is a good one, don't worry much about it. You captured both the horse and the rider very well. It is interesting and unusual to see the horse's mouth open and the rigging of the harness. I think this is a very interesting and unusual shot. If the horse is a mare, she might not like the shot, but it is not for her. |

Yes, the seats need to stand out more. Not seeing the color version it is hard to know the best way to accomoplish that, but in most monochrome conversion software you can select tones for different colors and I suspect you would be able to tone the seats different from the floor to your taste. If you just desature and image you have very little control and need to mask, select and work hard. Lightroom has 8 color sliders to pick, Adobe Camera RAW is probablyl the same. It is often surpriseing how different color sliders work with different parts of an image. |

I think it is just me, but I seem to jump around in the image from the upper level to the lower and from the left to the right. No spot seems to hold my attention. Everyone else seems to be comfortable with it. I guess we are all different, that is why we always need to understand that comments are just opinions and they are not all the same. |

The bird is very well done. I like the rim light on the head and most important parts of the bird to bring attention. The circles of light are going to be controversial. They provide intererst and hold attention. You submitted the image, so you like them and for you that is all that matters. If you are exhibiting it is risky. In exhibiting you need good scores from all three judges, 3 out of 3 and that might not happen. If you are selling you need 1 out of many, that is a lot different. |

I just prepared a version for entry in a local club competition and toned down the light area on the upper left from that suggestion and that guys bald head from the other suggestion, thank you to all. |
