Well done and made for monochrome. I like the way you exposed it with a lot of "true black" and contrast. If you want to do some "clean up" I would consider removing the small spot of light on the left under the upper story. I am not sure why it is there and that makes me want to not see it, |

Jay, a good capture. You don't say anything about post processing but the light on both sides of the building is good which can be a challenge. You might want to bring up the light on the upper part of the building some, but don't let it "halo" into the sky. |

I think the image just as you have it is great. Sunsets directly into the sun are usually best taken just after the sun is down or underexposed a bit but who can question this capture with the birds. Well done. |

I support the comments that have been made. I reacted to the blown out sky in the background. Perhaps under expose the original and then selectively bring everything but the backgound back up. Where you have it is right on, but I don't like the blown white sky. |

An interesting vehicle, I would like to know more about it. A good capture exposures can be difficult with hotspots, this seems right on. |

I didn't think I agreed with your suggestion, but tried it just sliding the image up to see how it works. I think it does work well. It is however a different image that might not tell the story of the vehicle as well. |

This is an excellent capture and I appreciate your research to talk about the fountain. This is the kind of wonderful shot that takes a lot of time trying different locations to change backgrounds, the position of fountain elements etc, I think you picked a very good spot to shoot. |

Sorry for being so slow. I didn't get this done before open heart surgery on the 12th and have hardly been on a computer since. All went well by the way. I love to bring up reflections, textures or whatever in pavement, but this pavement in Bordeaux was wonderful and this is not enhanced very much. |

The pan on the first rider is perfect, I don't understand why the second rider is so much softer, but it helps hold us on the first rider. Cropping is getting a lot of attention here. I think a moderate crop from the top is good and I would consider cropping the right to get the lead rider out of the center just a bit. You don't need to go to the 1/3 line in my thinking. I would consider darkening a bit that near white spot on the edge of he pavement in front of the riders. |

I think this is a compelling image. It insists I must study it. Imagine the worn stones, and what has happened over the years? I am not sure I like the stark white spots almost like stars in he rocks. Perhaps setting the white point a little different would work better for me. |

It is interesting, the different opinions on this image. To me the story is about the place and the man just adds scale and interest. That makes me liking him walking away. I think the celling and window heights are part of the story and the geometry that can be so important in some monos. That said I would consider a slight top crop to eliminate that celing projection in the upper left corner. I would not want to lose any of the lights up there so perhaps just darkening that area would be preferred to the crop. |

I really like the emotion that comes through so well. It might be an Italian stereotype, but this image is for real. The capture and processing are both excellent, but I think I would crop the bottom to just below his hand and that wonderful tattoo, I think it focuses on the strong story better. |

My first reaction was it was very busy, but actually that is pretty much the point of the composition, I think it is very good.
My reaction to Chris's comment about cropping the top was a surprise the comment was made, but I went up and rolled the image up to effectively see what he meant and I think I agree. |

I am late, but had open heart surgery April 12th and just got back to this type fun computer stuff. I agree the border is just a bit tight, but that is probably a matter of taste. The petal details and the way the inner petals stand out from those behind is excellent. I do feel there is an area on the inner petal to the lower right is just a bit hot for me. I would like to see a little more detail in it. Over all however a very nice capture. |
