Thank you for detailing how you accomplished the shot, it worked. The collection of flowers has a relatively informal look for the subject in what I am going to call a formal look of the black background. I like that. |

This is a beautiful image with the exception of the curved branch in the lower left. Even cropping to get rid of the light area below it helps, but if you have another version, that is probably the best solution, but I hope it also has the reflection on the beach. |

Carol, welcome to the group. I joined this group in 2004 and am perhaps the longest term member other than John Hacket. You have started with a beautiful image. The light is great, and the image might have some painterly filter on it, but perhaps it is just great light. I think I agree with Norm about a small crop on the top. You can just pull the image up in your browser to see the crop. I would keep that horizontal branch to help frame the shot. |

A beautiful shot of a wonderous place This is the south end of the Cinque Terra love walk. When we were there it was not possible to walk to the other end, it was washed out in a horrible storm. I like the image a lot. The image has a filtered feeling that doesn't feel quite as it is, but I will go along with fine art as an explanation. |

I like the way you filled the frame tight on this. Creates some level of tension in the image. Faces are important in any animal or people shot and I think I would open up the shadows in the face of the darker animal, Maverick I think is the name. |

I looked at this and at first thought it needed a crop from the bottom, as I contemplated this, I realized that was the mother watching. I agree that the story becomes more obvious if the mother's face is lightened and some more detail retained. Once it is understood it is a great nature story. |

I am a high contrast person, and my first reaction was that it is a bit flat, but I decided I like it just the way it is in just a few seconds. What a treat to actually have someone working in the image. A huge plus. |

A well planned monochrome. You turned the staircase into fine art and every step you talked about worked. There was no choice but to keep the wall on the left in my opinion, the stairs had to hang on something, but you played it way down with very little contrast to not compete with the staircase. Well done. |

I like the place you shot from, it seems to be very pleasing the way it depicted the grave stones. It is true that the pinnacle of the obelisk is against a busy part of the flowers. Perhaps that could be worked on a bit. I like what the IR did to the graveyard and stones. It is an unnatural look but photography does not need to look natural for most things we use it for. |

I like the mono version and I like that you kept the ships rail to help explain the shot but turned the various colors of the ship to similar tones that minimize the attention they receive. In my relatively limited cruising, I have never seen refueling like this. Perhaps I don't take long enough cruises. This is interesting. |
