As always, there is no right or wrong, just opinions. I like them both, but perhaps the color better. In color, I would not be afraid to up the vibrance (saturation) maybe past reality a bit. In the mono version some vegetation above the fence and signs right of center got pretty bright. The color seems to show that could be controlled in the conversion to be darker. I like cropping the bottom a bit but would leave enough rocks across to the left to be a base for the image. I am a fan of leaving all the signs and junk in an image like this and would only crop the bottom a bit. Every bit of junk is something to contemplate and hold attention on the image. |

A wonderful example of a shot that is probably significantly better with the perspective clearly shown and the image not level. A very nice composition just the way it is. I really like how it is pretty much right out of the camera, but the building is converted to a series of colored lines. Sort of like "altered reality" but it isn't. A slow shutter speed to show the motion, but sharp lines other than the train. Well done. |

I think it is always best to keep the posts vertical regardless. The fence boards might slope with the slope of the ground, but the posts should be vertical. |

I did try an HDR without better results. I am finding that a cellphone will take an HDR automatically if you make the appropriate settings. Frankly with absolutely no work to accomplish it and it is hard to beat. |

I like both shots. Frankly, I think I like the small one even better. I like the blue sky complementing the golden colors of the shot and the composition of the converging lines leading you from the lower left to the middle right. But back to the main image, horses are always good in an image. We seem to have an affinity for horses and they are well placed. The light and colors are amazing. |

I like the depth of this image with the rocks in the foreground, the tree and shore on the right with the low tide pools for mid-ground and the distant shore and clouds as a background. The right shore and high clouds frame and hold you in. Of course I haven't even mentioned the setting sun and rays peaking through and providing outstanding light for the entire scene. I was thinking I would consider a slight crop of the top and after reading Richard Harper's comment, if I understand his "blue patch" sentence, I think he has it about right. Great image. |

A nice simple composition. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it is interesting to study. The monochrome conversion is good and I suspect the color didn't add much if anything. The classic (mono) presentation is good. I am not good at planning negative space, but I would probably crop the sky down some. Then if you didn't like the pano aspect ratio you might consider cropping something off the ends. I think your original presentation or a cropped one both work. |

A very nice creation. I like the background to provide a sense of place, which I feel the image needs. The close crop into Rocky makes an interesting composition. I might suggest that you lighten his face and eye a bit to make it more important in the image. Well done. |

I really like this image. Yes, the swans are a little bright, but I don't think lost detail in the swans is all that important in this image. The swans are the detail in the larger image. The natural light on the swans is beautiful and the misty feel to the rest of the image sets off the swans. |
