I didn't even know what a ribbon stalactite was and living in Arizona I am embarrassed I have never been in this cave which I understand is great. With 15 seconds they must of even allowed tripods. I like the colors, differences in textures and lighting. Good job! |

Great birds and well shot. I think I might try to soften or reduce saturation or contrast in the background a bit. You might want to take down the saturation on the birds some. They seem oversaturated or something. The red in the breast of the bird on the left is turning yellow which might mean the red histogram went to the right rail. |

I probably wouldn't even attempt a shot with this much contrast. Your setup for the shot worked well however. Incredible the results we are getting with ISO this high with these modern cameras. That door leaning against the wall looks like a real gem. I might try to open up the light on it a bit more. With the textures in that door, a bit more noise might not be an issue. |

Anyone that likes city shots day and night missed a real opportunity if they didn't come to the conference. This city is beautiful and interesting. All I got in market square was an incredibly think sandwich. 2nd most ordered thing on the menu. I asked what the first was and was told beer. This is Pittsburgh after all. This is a great shot. The complimentary colors are wonderful. One of the best buildings in the world for reflection shots. Why didn't I do this? |

Or the title could be "Older than Dirt". Incredible wrinkles. I like the tones and the textures of the elephant. I wish it had more of his head in the upper left instead of what I think is some wood or a tree. If It was not going in nature I would be tempted to do something to blur the background more. Perhaps use two layers, blur the back one a bit and mask through to it. It seems you used a pretty wide open aperture, but there is still a bit more detail in the background than I would prefer. You couldn't have a better exposure or detail in the elephant itself. |

Judges rarely even see or hear titles, so for the competition they are typically ineffective. An interesting image and you did find a good subject and location with the lines. For exhibiting, my guess is the rain drops might not help. Interesting, but it only takes one of the three judges to not like it or even wonder why they are there in the 4 to 6 seconds and you are in trouble. Some images are better just enjoyed than competing with. Worth a try, but I would not be optimistic. In our club and council where all images are shown I often include one I like that I don't think has much of a chance, I just want to share it and sometimes I get surprised with the results. |

A good example of high contrast drawing our attention instead of near white. I like the water fading into the sky with little or no transition. The sand islands provide lines leading us to the boat. I don't know if the boat provides enough interest however to make this an outstanding image. |

There is a trend to use skies that are very dramatic. This might be controversial with judges. Frankly, in most cases, I prefer more simple skies even though you have probably seen me using some pretty dramatic skies. I think in this case I would prefer a less dramatic sky. Perhaps one with a relatively white area to position right behind the super structure of the bridge to set it off with good contrast. The water and bridge look great, but I think if possible I would prefer the shot taken a bit to the right to get more of the super structure of the bridge. |

Often we can look at an image a number of ways. If you consider this a placid harbor scene the boat at the dock becomes a foreground object. In this case, perhaps you would be better to include even more of the point like all of the house near the point. If you consider it a shot of the boat at the dock, then you might want to crop a bit tighter, but I like including the boats. |

I want'd to take out the butt shot of the one bending over, but it was difficult to do a good enough job of it. You can see the color version on G19. I think I like the color version of this better. |
