Russell, in its simplest form, it's about finding beauty/interest in things that you wouldn't normally associate as beautiful/interesting.
Obviously, everybody is going to have their own idea of what beauty is. The rose is a good example. Everybody enjoys looking at a beauty red or white rose. But there is also an attraction in a rose that is dying, showing different texture in the petals, shades of brown and green, for example, in the petals. |

Flowers make a great subject for wabi sabi as their colours and appearance change so much, but they still retain an interesting feel. |

Great colours in that vase. The 'broken' edges really give it a used/worn feel. The pure black background makes it stand out. |

Loving the colours of the dying flower. A rose? Personally, I find the colours in dying flowers more attractive than in the living, as they are often more varied.
I think that you could have cropped in tighter here and focused solely on the central part. |
