13 Mar 23 Reply I'm afraid that this version does not work for me. The overall soft feel of the image has been lost. Also, the attempt to remove the shelves looks too false as you know that they are there. The figure on the left now stands out from the image too much. Previously, they were 'lost' in the smoke. Finally, I don't think that it needs the white border.
Sorry, just my thoughts.

13 Mar 23 Comment I like the soft feel to this, caused mainly by the smoke that is billowing off of the grill. It adds to the soft light too.
The background on the left is not distracting as it puts the people in context. I agree about the shelves on the right though but they could have been toned down a little.
Overall though, a great image.

13 Mar 23 Comment I love all the shapes and lines here. The workers are slightly lost amongst the ropes and poles of the gantry but you know that they are there. Mar 22nd
13 Mar 23 Comment I love the opportunity to get this close to a balloon pre-launch as there are loads of shapes and colours that change in front of you. This works to lead you into the balloon. Perhaps, I may have move slightly to the left, so that you had a better view but I appreciate that that may not have been possible. Mar 22nd
13 Mar 23 Comment The handrail is perfectly positioned, coming out of the bottom left corner and leading you into the image. I agree that the handrail, bottom right, could be cropped out. Overall, it does seem a little bright though as the handrail and spray are a little burned out. The monochrome treatment, as the others have already said, works well here. Mar 22nd
13 Mar 23 Reply Personally, and it's all a matter of taste, I think that this treatment makes the image look over-sharp and too yellow.
As I say though, it's all a matter of personal preference.

13 Mar 23 Reply I agree on this format of crop. Mar 22nd
13 Mar 23 Comment I like the placement of the worker amongst the shrubs, showing how much there is for him to tackle.
I agree that a landscape format crop, by Wendy, works better to show him in his location. Also, the soft focus helps to separate him from the shrubs as well.

13 Mar 23 Comment Good timing here. The two firemen are in good positions for the composition as are the ladder and jet of water.
I also like the inclusion of the second fireman on the right.
