Happy for you to learn on my image Judith. I try not to get too precious of my images if people have suggestions about the. It doesn't mean I'll agree though. :)
As I've mentioned before I do little manipulation of my images. All I'll use is SnapSeed if on the phone or PS Elements for basic cropping, cloning out small oddities and lighting tweaks. |

The only way I can see as an alternative would be to crop just above the third highest illuminated tree. You lose the top of the other two but it doesn't look as though you've singled out the tallest. :) |

Thanks for your feedback Judith. A couple of comments in reply, if I may:
For me, the frontage of the theatre in its entirety is what I wanted, so the people, the sign and the top of the building where it disappeared into the night. A horizontal/landscape image would have produced too much at the sides and not enough height.
I was sitting on the step below the woman in the black jacket and I wanted to include her as she was one of the people, on her phone (that you cannot see here), adding to the anticipation of a crowd waiting to get in.
Finally, I find your version far too white and bright. The lights were casting a yellow he to the scene and not the white one that you created. It's a shame that our sodium street lights are being phased out for the more economic LED ones.
Thanks for the feedback though. |

You can thank the arrangers of the rink and the public for a well composed image. I like the bottom half in particular with the people sitting down, the small illuminated trees and the reflections in the ice. For me, it's a shame about the tallest tree as, by including that, it has meant that you have had to include a lot of gray, blank sky. Having the top of the photo at the top of the second highest tree would have been better. |

Very moody and atmospheric. I hope it's safe walking down there. It is a little dark, even for a night time image, but I guess that adds to the mood. I would crop a little from the top though as there are buildings on both the far right and left of centre which are just a little distracting once you notice them. |

A great scene to be able to capture and Barbara has said it all as far as I'm concerned. |

I love the flow in this image of both the clouds and the line of the hill. It's well composed and nicely sharp, considering you were shooting through a bus window. The B&W treatment is effective here for a landscape image. |

As the others have said, the zooming creates a great effect with the lights. Interesting that nothing else changed, apart from the one branch pointing towards you. I guess that's down to the long exposure. Well done! |

I love the perspective as it looks as though you are looking down into the town and then up the other side towards the tower. The light trails guide you through the image. I would crop some of the sky, perhaps only half though, to move the attention downwards. |
