Wow Judith, there was more text in that explanation than we normally see on everyone's images over a couple of rounds! :)
One thing that sounds strange to me is that you refer to the colours of your flag as red, white and blue. I thought your flag was simply red and white? |

Hi Judith. No problem. As I said, it was taken back in July (not specifically for this topic) and was a mainly as a capture of the sharp points of the plant but the ladybird helped add interest to that capture.
Happy to help. |

Thanks Judith. I did think about a tighter crop but I preferred this one as it showed off, to me, more of the sharp points of the teasel. |

The red leaf on the black background is very dramatic. I love the yellow veins that you can follow through the leaf.
Two points for me though are that you cropped the tip of the leaf on the left and there's a strange, unnatural, purple tinge to the edges of the leaf. |

Well done on capturing this head on. You obviously had quite a shallow DoF as the head and front legs are sharp but it quickly softens on the back of the body. At first, I wanted the branches to be a little less bright but, as Barbara says, they do help to draw your focus in. |

A great abstract (without reading your description) and one that works, for me, with either the stark white background or a coloured one. The square format works well here. |

The colours of the seed pod help to make it stand out from the background though you could have increased the contrast a little. I like the composition which means it's not centred and is a little above the half way point. |

I like this and the randomness of the objects/spores/fungus. I like the shades of green that you have captured. I was wondering whether you could have cloned out the 'part' objects around the edges, so that only whole ones were in the frame? |

An interesting story of the coin Tim. You managed to capture some fine detail even with the scanner. I'm not worried about the bit of shadow, as you'll get that with the scanner passing over a non flat object. However, I would have preferred it if the whole image had been a uniform colour rather than the shades of white that you have. The black background, as suggested by Judith, works well. |
