looking at the image again, I tend to agree.
It looks as though it has been printed on sandpaper!
I shall start again from the raw file. |

Some work on contrast and brightness is always worth trying.
I shall have a play. |

Your comment about the water is spot on.
I usually try to achieve a shutter speed of about 1/2 second when photographing such scenes. I have no idea why I did not do so on this occasion.
As the location is only a few miles from me I can easily go back and try again.
The water level may be lower now as the weather is "improving". Perhaps in the autumn and winter? |

The image shows us very well just what hippos do.
The foreground does let the image down a tad and I feel that Peter's changes are just what is required. |

You did well to spot the potential here.
Without the man the image would be much less interesting.
Well done for actually using the situation to produce an excellent image.
I am with Ian and Ella in feeling that the image is a little too dark.
A bit more work on the brightness and perhaps contrast should improve things considerably.
An unusual and interesting image. |

A super image with excellent composition.
The long exposure is very well judged and adds so much atmosphere to the image.
Simply wonderful. |

So many photographer ignore this area, bypassing on the way to the Highlands.
The area provides so much to capture and you have chosen one of the best locations.
I am hoping to spend some time in Dumfries and Galloway before too long. I have much family history in the area which adds to the attraction.
Your image captures the essence of the loch very well indeed.
I particularly like the way the distant hills can be seen which is intriguing and makes me want to explore. |
