I recall having similar problems myself.
On occasion this prevented me from using a particular image at a particular size.
Perhaps the answer is selective enhancement, which is a pain.

I really like the subject and that you have photographed it from an unusual viewpoint. Very effective indeed and the use of monochrome has also been very effective. I just love the tones. |

A nice simple image which nevertheless tells us much of the way that elephants look after and protect their youngsters.
It would presumably have been easier to have captured a wider view with more of the herd but I reckon that you were correct to concentrate on just this pair, and, especially, on the calf. Well done. |

There does seem to be some opposition to Trump as US President around the world.
Much is from people whose "opinions" come from the media; some may well be more sincere.
This is not the first time the US has had a strange President and we have had some plonkers here in the UK.............. Then there is France!
However it is the image I should be commenting on.
The image captures well the atmosphere at the rally and is a good piece of photojournalism. |

An excellent subject for monochrome.
The figure is well placed and adds to the overall effect.
I also find the black square on the far wall to be intriguing.
What is that and what is it's purpose?
There is just enough detail in the floor and roof; any more would be distracting.
Well done for excluding anything outside of the structure which would also have been distracting.
A super image. |

Certainly a location worth regular visits.
This is an effective and interesting image which shows the location well.
I like the juxtaposition of the church and the cross.
There does seem to be more noise in the right of the image as others have mentioned.
It seems odd that the noise appears only on the right. Could it be rain or snow moving in? |

An interesting shot of an interesting character.
The fussy background does not bother me; in fact, with the straw bales it suggests that an event is in progress.
Those bales together with the musician suggests a music event.
Well captured. |

Yes, the buoy must go and, in fact, has already gone!
The sharpening problem is, as you say, probably a result of the small file.
However, as such a size is still current for many salons, it needs looking at.
My workflow is in flux somewhat and needs refining. |
