62 Jan 18 Reply There would be some Lenore since it is still light though no sun. You would still have a darker area behind or somewhere

62 Jan 18 Comment Wow Gloria, you never seem to stop in your growth and creativity! What a complete mood change. What I lack is the shadow of the horse and the man in the snow--or it appears they are in the snow, which I love. I suppose what Elinor refers to can be considered puddles and reflections in the puddles but I too am missing of what they are reflecting. removing them both and leaving it more ambiguous may have helped with the visualization of the scene. I love the mood though. Very creative! Jan 15th
62 Jan 18 Comment This is gorgeous Elinor. Love your lightweight strokes that comes through as if you painted this in 5 minutes to perfection. I suppose a true impressionist. I have one very tiny detail that I may recommend to try and see if the picture gains balance: on the lower right where your name is, I would have pulled the green a bit in to be a narrowing curve rather than a fattening one. This is just my feeling that there is some balance off there for my taste. But the flowers are stunning and your background choice is flawless. Jan 15th
62 Jan 18 Comment Gerhard, you just reminded me how long we have been together in this group! I still remember this painting and we commented on the sky being white could be improved. Indeed, you have significantly improved the previous painting and captured a wet sheen after the rains, which match the skies. I like the energy you present in your paintings. You have a definite unmistakable style. Jan 15th
62 Jan 18 Comment I agree with both Gloria and Elinor. I would also suggest that while the painting is excellent, watercolor is the most difficult art form (in my opinion) because in water color it is what you leave out makes the impression. So the essence is to have the least amount of painting on paper and the most amount of empty space. This gives room for the playing with light, which is the essence of watercolor. I think one of the biggest problems with most (if not all) watercolor treatments that work the photos over automatically is that they leave awkward places void of color and generally place too much plain on the paper.

Otherwise I wish I could bite into some of these apples. They look very inviting! I do love the color composition and the whole painting, in general, is very inviting.
