Thanks Gerhard. As always, you prefer the focus in the middle. :) I actually was aiming for the golden rule of thirds but it seemed to not fit that mold so it is definitely not positioned right. |

That is a great observation Elinor. I saw the same but never thought of it fantasy but, indeed, that is precisely what it became--great vision. |

That is why my hubby is editing my book. ;) I cannot see my own missing elements for the life of me. It is the same with paintings... we see things with our mind's eyes because we know it is there so others, not familiar with the subject, are great to point missing things out. |

Thanks Elinor. That is precisely what I saw in the petals as I was adding the sparkles. :) |

Oh my Gloria. I have never heard of any of the steps you did here. Something for sure to try! This looks totally wonderful and very unusual. This is very creative. I wouldn't change a thing. I need to try this! |

Lovely portraits Elinor; great first experiment. I agree with Tom since on the photo it seems the image is a bit too light. Lovely background and hair. I think you may have left the teeth untouched. It is a hard subject and hard to decide what to paint and what not to paint. I also find a few areas of pixelation giving away that it is a painted photograph.
I wonder if you ever tried to enlarge the image 200% or larger to catch these areas. I usually try to enlarge--sometimes to 400%--just to see details where it may be critical like the eyes, skin, etc. It seems to make it easier to see what may be left out from coverage.
I love the mood it presents! Wonderful job. |

Wonderful sea of flowers Gerhard. It impresses me more in your painting than on the photo! You captured the magnitude of the perspective in a better way.
I may have tried to lighten or blur the background past the flowers a tad to increase the illusion of the dimensions but it is very nice as it is. Great subject--though not easy by any definition. |

Welcome to our group Tom! We are very happy that you joined us. Your work is wonderful. You did a great job removing all distractions from the background; great painted background--the color matches perfectly. I like how you followed the textures with curving the brush--it gave the textures of the rummer tire back very differently from the metal gas tank. Very well done.
The only slight missing element is the handle of the sport mirror. In the original photo it is pretty gray and so it vanished when you applied the background. I think a slight darker color there would anchor the mirror the the handle bar better.
Nicely done and great subject with lovely simplification. |
