Thanks, Lynne. I thought the silos gave the image some perspective and context. Proper rows of commercially farmed sunflowers can make striking images, but there is something pleasant about a field of random wild blossoms.

Thank you, Sol. I hadn't thought about that one flower from that perspective. I suppose I was just looking at the main flower and the silos. If I'd noticed the flower, and if I'd done edits in PS, I might have tried removing it with content aware fill to see if it was better. But maybe I'd have left it there. I can't say. Thanks for mentioning it.

Thank you. I agree. I thought it should be more interesting as a landscape shot with near, middle and distant things. The mountains were supposed to be the "distant," but didn't appear in the photo.

Thank you. I agree that the silos enhance the story in the image. As I mentioned, I would have liked to have included the mountains in the background, too, but the wildfire smoke haze prevented that.

Even if this isn't the intended image, it still works. I sometimes use PS mobile to do a little editing, so that doesn't matter to me. I like BW so that's fine. I think I might have cropped the lower edge just below the neckerchief so as to include the tails. I think they might help to tell the story and they might lead the viewer's eyes up to the face. Just my opinion. Nice capture.

Nice capture, especially with a mobile device. I haven't tried to use studio lights with mine, but your description sounds like something to try. There are a number of small portable LED lights available now, and that should work, too. I watched a video by a (DSLR) photographer from the PNW who used small lights to illuminate fungi. It's the same idea with smaller subjects. Thanks for the suggestion.

I am always amazed at how much sound a single cicada can generate. It's a wonder of nature to me. Nice colors in the flowers and the cicada, too. Nice and sharp, too.
We don't have lightning bugs here, but I have watched them at lower elevations. They would be difficult to capture with a single frame. Maybe shoot video and pick out a single frame or two? Don't know if that might work.

Hummingbirds are amazing. I like this capture showing the rapid wing movement with the eye in focus. It's a little grainy, but then it is tightly cropped so that's to be expected. Nice. It is fun.

Nice colors and silhouettes. Good creative use of toys, some dirt clumps, and a weed!
Sounds like you have a nice extended family.
