Thank you for your comments. It's been a snowy and cold winter here, too. Getting out has been more difficult than usual.

Oh, okay. Thanks for clarifying. It's an interesting place to photograph, so I'm sure you took a bunch of shots.

Thank you for your comments. Using your comments and also Jerry's, I did a BW version with lots of dodge/burn to make a more dramatic image.

Good idea. Following your comment and Pam's comment, I did a BW conversion and used some dodge/burn to make a more dramatic and eerie image.
To answer your question, it was shot at eye level. It's a habit, I'll admit. I think a lower camera position might have been better. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

Thank you for your comments. I would agree that it isn't quite as impactful in BW. I like BW, but sometimes the story is in the colors.

Jerry, this is a creative idea and it worked very well. The colors and the reflections are great. I've tried still life images, but I couldn't figure out a good lighting scheme. You got it right. Very nice.
I hope you will forgive me for editing your great image, but I wondered how it might look if the bulb had some power. So, I fiddled in PS and came up with the attached. I had to add the wires to get power to it, too. It isn't intended to be an improvement, it's just a bit of fun.

Wow! Need I say more? You nailed it. I hope you submit it for judging in a landscape competition somewhere.

Lynne, this is a very nice image. It's colorful, and it makes the viewer want to be there. Having your daughter on the trail gives perspective and context to the scene that would be missing otherwise. Having her facing away from the camera and in motion says this isn't just a portrait snapshot. Nicely done.

This must be an interesting place to explore. Lots of history. Exploring abandoned places can be fun. I think there's an anamorphic lens look to the image which leaves me wondering how that occurred. I don't think I've seen that from a mobile device, but then I have an older iPhone. Also, the image marked "original" has different information than the main image. Is it a different shot of the scene, or is the main image is a pano? Just wondering.

Dave, this is a great angle to show the height and the length of the train. There's a strong vanishing point, too. The engine has a weathered look that indicates it isn't just a showpiece; it's a real locomotive. The yellow headlight gives the impression that the train might be moving at any moment. Nicely done. If I had a suggestion, it would be to open the shadows a little, so the coupler and the trucks would be more visible.

What a nice portrait. My experience with Golden Retrievers is they are so sweet and gentle. I have to admit that this photo and description got to me. Sorry for your loss. I'm sure you miss her.
