Thank you for your comments. I am pleased you liked the image(s). The scene was a "found" moment while I was out walking one day. After Pam's comments and yours, too, I added a lot of contrast and black (using ACR) to the BW version, and I agree that it made it better. Thanks for the suggestion.

Great point. The clouds are blown out, so trying to moderate that brightness would be difficult. There might be some detail in a RAW file, if you had one. Another possibility might be "sky replacement" in Photoshop. I haven't used that feature, so I don't know how difficult, or easy, that might be. So, at the end of the day, your crop may be exactly the right solution.

Thank you for your kind comments. I'm pleased you liked the image(s). Choosing between color and BW was difficult for me. Your suggestion means I wouldn't have to choose!

Thank you for your comments. As I mentioned to Jerry, the crop is a standard 16x9, but I can understand your comment about cropping. Adding more contrast is a good suggestion. Most BW images look good with lots of contrast.
I'm happy you liked the telephone lines. I was concerned they might be a distraction since one pole appears from the top of the engine. I had an earlier shot with that pole in front of the engine, but the large bush partially obscured the second engine.

Thank you for your comments. Picking a favorite between color and BW was difficult for me. The crop is a standard 16x9, but I can understand your comment about cropping. Adding more Ambiance causes the sky around the clouds to darken and look unnatural, so I had to limit how much was added.

Thank you for your comments. I do agree with you. I quite like the blue and orange of the color image. The BW is more about the sky. If I were to print one of them, it would be a difficult choice for me. Most of my printed images are BW.

Thank you for your comments. Happily, the train was moving slowly so I had time to tap away as it passed. I hope you got some good snaps from your train scene, too.
I agree with your thoughts. I quite like the blue and orange of the color image. The BW is more about the sky. I sent in both versions since it isn't a simple choice for me.

Gosh, you and Jerry with your new iPhone 14s. I'm still using a 7. I guess I'd better look into an upgrade...
Anyway, this was a nice experiment. The new iPhone has good resolution if one can crop in that much and not get artifacts. I agree with Dave that there is additional interest in the original scene, but I understand that wasn't what you wanted to demonstrate for us.

The composition is spot-on. The river flows through the scene and pulls my eyes along with it. Nice big rocks in the foreground to anchor the scene. The haze adds a bit of drama, but the source is unfortunate. I think you are correct about dehaze. It might have added a bit more clarity. I agree that it isn't included in Snapseed. One thing PS dehaze does is to add a chunk of contrast, so maybe that might help in Snapseed. Don't know for sure.

What a fun outing. You got to watch the teams from that pleasant riverbank, and watch your grandson do well in the competition. Good stuff. Nice colors. Great sky, too. Photographing moving things can be tricky especially when the boats (shells?) are quite long. Nice photo.

Working with textures is a good thing. The trees and the rocks provide a range of textures. The fall colors add interest, too. The diagonal line of the rock adds energy and draws my eyes through the shot. Nice capture. When I look at the original, I think I might have included the sky as well since that diagonal line is there, too, and the treetops and clouds add more texture. But that's just my take on the scene which is a little different for yours. Either way, it's a nice shot.

Those people really take decorating seriously! Lots of fun things to see. Your composition and crop hold my eyes in the scene. Nice colors. The brightness seems appropriate for the scene. Fun!

Your extra effort was successful in capturing a lovely morning scene. The colors are great and draw my eyes into the composition. You have close, middle and distant things that keep me looking through the frame. Your composition provides a visual pathway into the lake between the rock and the red leaves. Glad you didn't collide with those deer! Nice capture.
