51 Apr 22 Reply Thank you for your comments. It was a warm 65 degree and bright sunny day. We have to enjoy days like that when they appear at this 5000 ft elevation. There was light snow the next day. Springtime!

51 Apr 22 Reply Thank you for your comments. I agree that a little polite conversation usually allows one to take a person's photo. I remember one time when I asked a guy to pose, but he declined because he was busy trying to manage small children who were, well, being normal little kids.

51 Apr 22 Reply Thank you for the feedback. My experience with "portrait mode" is less than positive. I suppose a newer iPhone might do better with it, but my iPhone 7 always makes odd choices regarding what is in focus and what is blurred. That and the blur looks artificial rather than like lens-created bokeh. I'm not a fan, so I don't use it.

51 Apr 22 Reply Thank you, Jerry. It was pure luck that I happened to be there at the same time they were out riding, and I had to act quickly. But we all try to carry a camera for those serendipitous opportunities.

51 Apr 22 Reply Thank you, Dave, for your kind words. I do try to "see as a photographer" all the time, but many of my images aren't very good. Speaking easily to lovely young women is one of the privileges of being an old man.

51 Apr 22 Reply Thank you for your comments, and a chuckle, too. "Horsing around." Good.

51 Apr 22 Comment The Tiny Planet FX app does some interesting things. I haven't tried it. Abstract is the proper way to describe the images. I don't have a preference between the two versions. Gosh, I'm not helping, am I? Maybe on your future marina images, I'll do better.

51 Apr 22 Comment I think the BW conversion was a good thing. The terrain is so brown and dormant that it takes away from the image. The ice is essentially white anyway, so it works.

51 Apr 22 Comment Dave and I both might have avoided this shot directly into the sun, but it worked out nicely. I like the silhouetted figures, and that glass in the man's hand sells it. I'd like to join in the party! Nicely done.

51 Apr 22 Comment Another very nice landscape. I especially like the tiny yellow-orange hint of the sun on the horizon. It gives it a feeling of a moment captured. Not sure that makes sense, but I don't know how else to say it.

51 Apr 22 Comment Nice bright colors and good composition. Springtime is suggested, too. The other flowers, just slightly out of focus add a nice backdrop. Nice shot.

51 Apr 22 Comment I agree with Richard that this looks like a book cover. The colors are vivid, and the scene suggests the wild, wild west.
I like DFX a lot. I've used it many times. It can create some great effects. Nicely seen and edited.
