Thank you for your comments. The iPhone (7+ in this case) does provide sharp images. My experience is that if one scrolls-in, one can see that the tiny iPhone sensor doesn't hold up. But in our social media driven world, no one scrolls-in that far, so it probably isn't important.
Hope all is well with you and your family.

Thank you for your comments. After I finished this version of the shot, I thought I cropped a little too much off the right edge. If I had shifted the crop to the right, I'd satisfy both your suggestion and my idea about leaving more on the right. Good feedback.

Thank you for your kind comments. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time. It was a quiet Sunday morning, and the nearly cloudless sky provided some nice shadows.

Absolutely true! Often nature gives us what we need to create something special. Nice image and nice composition. |

Thank you for your nice comments. It was one of those times I was just wandering around and tapping on my iPhone. There weren't many people around, so that helped. The gates do make for nice shadows.

Dave, I was thinking that one could also use something in the environment like a rock (or a tree, but your location there may not be trees to use) to stabilize the 'phone. A monopod, a.k.a. hiking pole, should work, too. I wonder if there is a gadget that would securely clamp a 'phone to a monopod. Somebody probably makes something like that, but I have too many camera gadgets as it is!
Anyway, in my comments, I was just suggesting that the digital zoom probably reduces resolution. I think that has been suggested in articles by others. I was thinking about an image side-by-side comparison to see. maybe I'll try that (next week when it warms up a little) and see. |

Thanks, Dave, for your positive comments. I'm drawn to architectural themes probably due to my work experience over the years.

Watching these professionals do their work can be fascinating. They've had lots of practice, so they work very quickly and they don't miss a spot. It's kind of mesmerizing. I like the silhouette which adds a bit of mystery and anonymity. Your edits worked well.

Looks like the critters and the man are snow caving. The snow is white, so the color is properly rendered. I can see the texture in the snow, so good details have been captured. Fun winter shot.

Really nice! The colors are good and that foreground is great. I would have guessed that you placed those four shells like that. They seem so carefully placed. I know you didn't do that, but that was my first rection. Anyway, it's a great capture, and I'm sure the Sony image is wonderful with the smoothed water and probably in landscape, too.

I can almost hear the sound of the rushing waters. Great sky and surrounding vegetation, too. The scene has foreground, middle, and distance elements. Your edits added some energy. Nice shot.

What a great place to explore, but probably quite unsafe, too. I can imagine breaking through the floorboards! I like the strong colors and the framing of the tree standing in the sun. I agree that the bare tree and the decay of the building complement each other. Nicely seen and captured.

Nice bright sunrise that puts the cacti into silhouette. The zoom setting might have foreshortened the scene which is okay since the background is strong. It would be interesting to test if using a tripod increases sharpness in a situation like this. I think the digital zoom may reduce sharpness, but I could be wrong.
