This image can stand by itself as an interesting study in 2 faces with quite dissimilar expressions - and maybe dissimilar thoughts! It is well-exposed and sharp. The background context of a stormy beach is obvious, and the weathering on the white barrier adds realism to the scene. |

I, too, agree that your tulip bloom was a great choice for B/W photography! Light and dark areas of the petals show good contrast and texture. However, I would like to see the stem and flower bottom stand out more against the black background. Perhaps shining your Zoom light more in these areas would help. |

In this bouquet of blue flowers, I like the vibrant colors and the mottled green background. However, though I agree that the hairs on the flower stems are sharp, I would like to see a bit more sharpness in the sepals and petals. But I also admit that it's a question of taste on my part! With their ability to create images only sharp in certain areas, the Velvet, and Lensbabies in general, offer room for lots of experimentation. |

You're right - Nature's magnificence! The soft light and shades of yellow make for an arresting image, and the elements of the composition are all well-placed with respect to each other. However, I agree with Donna that this scene works better in horizontal format, as most of the items of interest are in the middle third of the vertical frame. |

A great capture of an often-uncooperative subject! Either the big waves aren't there that day or, once you get your camera in hand ready to shoot, the ocean suddenly gets calm and boring. Your image shows the power of the ocean. I agree that more contrast would increase the impact. You could also try increasing Clarity in Photoshop, which might add depth and detail to the surf. |
