10 Aug 23 Comment Thanks to all for your comments! I was lucky that day - good lighting, a small crowd and the opportunity for many shots, since with polo there is almost constant action. Aug 22nd
10 Aug 23 Comment I find this a compelling image with a vibrant, sharp floral center merging at the edges into a nebulous background. I would have preferred to have seen a bit more space at the bottom of the flower, but the image is beautiful as is. Well-done! Aug 22nd
10 Aug 23 Comment The taleidoscope sounds like a new technique with lots of potential and this is a good first attempt! I like how the caladium leaves merge into the white stones (and I also like the black holes). However, I find the many shapes and positions of the stones detract from the unity of the composition. However, it should be easy to obtain similar scenes with fewer elements. Aug 22nd
10 Aug 23 Comment I have to admit, I, too, prefer the color image! In the B&W version, too much detail is lost in the shadows. I also agree that either removing extraneous details at upper right, or applying Doug's crop, would further emphasize the main subject. Aug 22nd
10 Aug 23 Comment These is a lot to be said for this image! It is a great study in texture, and the effects of weathering on the wheel recall a bygone era. The section of iron rim without wood adds interest to the scene, as does the vertical post. But, like Donna, I find the horizontal post at mid-left tends to lead my eye out of the scene. You might try cloning it back, just a bit, so it doesn't merge with the border. Another thing to try - converting the image to black & white. Aug 22nd
10 Aug 23 Comment Rich, a great travel shot of Monument Valley! Lighting is bright but even (no harsh shadows), the colors are vibrant, and I particularly admire the placement of the rocks in the frame and the groups of clouds above each of them. I agree the focus is somewhat soft, but it is not that noticeable when the image is viewed from a distance (try sharpening if you haven't already?). Aug 22nd
