This image is cropped well and conveys the impression of bearing a heavy load. The background grooves at top and left help to frame the sculpture. The left forearm is blown out, but this can be cloned over with detail from the right forearm. I also agree that the image is too blue - the original shows the background detail (part of which is the load she is bearing!) more clearly. Overall, nicely done! |

I have also photographed these flowers, and now I know they are called cosmos flowers (thank-you)! Your background is pleasantly subdued, and you have captured the intricately textured lines in the cosmos flower petals as they lead towards the sharply detailed center. Well-done! |

A lot of planning and post-processing went into this image! The soft focus on the petals suffused with the lemon-yellow hue works well. The center of the flower is in exquisite detail revealing many interesting small features. However, the petal at extreme upper left is nearly pure white and keeps drawing my eye away from the flower center. I agree with Doug that adding some yellow to this petal would make it less distracting. Overall, nice job! |

Doug - you are right - this is quite a departure from your past focus-stacked images! But even for selective focus, this image has a fresh, contemporary feel with the high key treatment and flower on a diagonal. I, personally, would probably put more of the flower in focus, but here there is still enough detail throughout to reveal the overall structure of the daisy. |

A carefully composed image enabled you to capture the essence of the Falls! The photo looks sharp throughout and well-exposed. The stream acts as a leading line to bring the viewer's eye in towards the falls. The boulder at lower left helps to anchor the scene but is too prominent and tends to throw the image a bit off-balance. Toning down this rock may help here. Overall, well-done! |

Rich, this is a vibrantly-colored scenic! I like the contrasting colors of the yellow foliage (aspen?) with the blue sky. However, I feel that the clouds are too contrasty compared with the rest of the image. I also agree that the image is too tightly cropped on either side. I actually prefer the second vertical image that you posted. This second photo lets the viewer's eye fully enter the scene and has a more interesting sky. |
