Use of Luminar to eliminate distracting background worked well here! Clouds are a good choice for new background. Bird's eyes are sharp but rest of neck and head outline is blurry. I agree with Donna that greater DOF might have helped to make the bird completely sharp. |

Beautifully composed image with exquisite sunset lighting! Isolating 3 swans in different poses in the foreground is no mean task given the huge numbers in the flock. Use of silhouette works perfectly here. |

Considering that this was taken with a smartphone, the exposure control here is perfect! Dealing with snowy highlights in a sunlight sky can be challenging and you've retained detail in all of these areas. Textures in wood and mountain are sharp and colors are vibrant. I do find that the "dragon" tends to merge with the mountains; shooting from a lower position would have lifted it up over the edge of the horizon. I agree with Beverly that darkening the background will make the "dragon" stand out more! |

Good capture of the NYC skyline. Lighting is warm and the colors are vibrant. I agree with Donna that cropping water from bottom and sky from top to make more of a panorama format would yield a stronger image. |

A Happy New Year to you, too (and to one and all for that matter)! Your purple finch is well-captured and its colors perfectly isolate it from the muted green background. I agree with Jack that cropping a bit from the top would strengthen the composition; you might also try a bit from the right. I also see that the bird's tack sharp plumage gets a tad fuzzy in head/neck region. Try sharpening, if you haven't already, plus an increase in contrast to make the subject really stand out. |
