Thank-you, Christina, for your suggestions and revised image! I essentially agree with all your changes, except that I originally struggled when it came to cropping out the poster. It is definitely a distraction, but cropping it meant eliminating the scales with their battered pans from the image as well. I guess I'm less of a minimalist when it comes to PJ and travel photography and more into story-telling and providing an environmental context. The battered scales help tell the story - they are the tools of the vegetable man's trade and he's used them for many years. |

Thank-you Diana for your comments! I always sat by a bus window and had my lens rather close to the glass. When the bus was moving, I would often look continuously thru the viewfinder - ready to click the shutter instantly when a close-up subject moved by. Of course, the bus stopped often - then I could carefully compose and usually take several shots of any scene outside. |

A creative and well-executed butterfly close-up that celebrates your latest gardening experience! Butterfly and flower colors are vibrant. Both stand out well against the muted tan background. You did an excellent job of selecting the butterfly as shown by the sharp outlines of antennae, body and legs. However, I struggled over whether the "place postage stamp here" text was a distracting element in the image (and again wonder what other Group members think). If you intend to use this postcard as a backdrop for future images, you might consider placing an old, faded, cancelled "stamp" in this area (just a thought)! Or just clone it out. Overall, good job! |

This photo, with its vacant bench, projects a strong mood - of personal isolation amidst stark beauty. The well-captured tree branches in foreground, across the water, and as reflections, form an intricate web around the bench. The blue light of early morning fog also complements the scene. I would like to know if other Group members think the white spot on the bench is distracting - it does not bother me. Overall, an evocative, low-key image, creatively composed! |

A well-done church interior shot! The image has good symmetry with the arches forming leading lines, taking you into the picture. The image is sharp, and lighting is even throughout - even details in the ceiling are visible. The stained glass window is somewhat blown-out at top and I would consider selectively toning it down (one way is to use the Burn Tool in PS). |

A nicely done flower close-up! You blurred the background sufficiently with a shallow depth of field, yet the focus-stacking allowed all areas of the daisy to be sharp. The flower in the background provides context without being distracting. The image is slightly underexposed and also needs a bit of selective brightening to bring out details in the center of the flower. I would also crop in very slightly from the left (to put the flower just off-center) and consider adding a light-colored border. |
