More than the typical bird portrait, this is a well-done image of bird behavior in the wild! The lighting is good and the subjects are well-suited for the vertical format. I agree that the image is improved by cropping from bottom and top. |

I can't agree more … this image captures happiness! And the smoke wafting up in front of the face from the lit cigar makes it a unique and revealing portrait. |

Here's another revision of David's colorful Red Sunflower image, but cropped less than Christina's to preserve a little more of the background. I also enhanced sky colors by toning down highlights (Shadows/Highlights command in PS). |

Another great bird capture! Diana, the finch's feather texture and orange color stand out well from the white background (I don't know why it's called a "Purple" Finch!). I, too, agree that the eye needs a catchlight. I also don't find the background twig at left distracting. However, starting with the original image I would suggest cropping down from the top and then just a bit from the left to eliminate the buds on that twig. |

A good capture of a fast moving subject. At 1/3500 sec you froze the action! I agree with Herb that cropping in from left will help by placing eye off center. |

Definitely a compelling capture of boy and horse sharing! I agree with others that the upper left bright spot in the original image was distracting, but you corrected this in your edited image. The sepia treatment works well and eliminates the blue cast in the original. My only quibble is that the edited image cropping is too tight at bottom. I would have liked to see the kid's entire arm as shown in your original. |

Thank-you Christina for your helpful comments and revised image. I agree that the cropping and vignetting have reduced the distracting elements at upper left of the image (railing and pipes). |
