10 Jun 18 Comment Thank-you all for your helpful comments! I can say that once you get the right settings on your camera, this type of photography is a lot of fun! Jun 27th
10 Jun 18 Comment A well-composed environmental portrait. You did a good job bringing out tonalities with Silver Efex. And you've captured the genuinely cheerful expression of a man happy with his music and the people he meets. I also agree with Rich that he could be a stand-in for Santa ("a right jolly old elf!"). 10 Jun 18 Comment The strong points of this image are its brilliant sunset colors and intricate cloud patterns. However, I have difficulty with the streaked area at center bottom; to me, it doesn't fit harmoniously into the rest of the scene. To remedy this, I would eliminate it and adjacent dark areas by cropping up about 30%, thereby making this image a panorama which would emphasize the clouds and sunset. See cropped image below. 10 Jun 18 Comment This image is richly detailed and for a photo which was not manipulated it does have vibrant colors. I agree that there are smaller scenes within this photo that through cropping would stand on their own - such as separate images centered on the woman in pink or on the 2 persons at upper left. 10 Jun 18 Comment You shot the staircase at an angle which adds strong leading lines and emphasizes its geometry! However, I would try cropping in from the left about 10-20% which would eliminate areas lacking content and make the image more balanced. I also agree with John that the photo needs added contrast. You can do this using Levels in Photoshop or the Black slider in LR (Develop Module). Overall, well done! Jun 27th
10 Jun 18 Comment A compelling image of forest mushrooms. The low angle gives it impact and makes the mushrooms appear larger than life. However, the background (sky and trees) is too bright and detailed, therefore distracting from the main subject. I agree with Oliver about selectively toning it down. In future, you might try shooting similar scenes with more selective focus (larger aperture), thereby further blurring the background. Jun 27th
10 Jun 18 Comment Images is well-exposed and sharp. I agree with others that it could be more saturated and less cropped on the bottom. Jun 27th
