The child's facial expression and hand gestures are nicely captured. A compelling portrait! |

Thank-you all for your helpful comments. I agree that placing the face off-center at a power point will strengthen the image. |

I used a compact LED flashlight that gave a bright light but a wide beam. Fortunately, I was able to paint the statue from only 5 feet away. This was enough to "light up" the face with a 15 second exposure. Though "paint-by-light" requires some patience and a little trial and error, it is well worth the effort! |

I, too, agree that the Jack-o'-lantern should be the main subject in this image. Therefore, the flowers should be moved aside. Talking about tangents, in addition to the flowers, the stem of the center foreground pumpkin also merges with the smile of the pumpkin face. Moving the foreground pumpkin to the left would eliminate this. Unfortunately, you can't move any of these objects. Next Halloween, though, you could set up your own arrangement of pumpkins and flowers, giving you full freedom to photograph however you wish! |

Beautifully composed image with a subtle palette of blue and yellow hues. Yellow foliage, mountaintop and reflection help to balance the composition, as do the rock at lower left and mountain at upper right. Scene is full of detail with maximum depth of field making it perfectly sharp throughout. The branches at left are not a major distraction and can be cloned out. Overall, a well-done scenic! |

Windows, balcony and flower boxes make for an interesting subject which is well-exposed and sharp with adequate color saturation. However, I agree with other members that the surrounding wall is too distractingly bright. I would tone it down in post-processing or re-shoot later in the afternoon. Also, the balcony is too centered and close to the lower edge of the image. Re-composing the scene when re-shooting would help here. |

Great seasonal humor shot! And a new decorative use for Halloween pumpkins! Sign at top adds to the image. Sign on fence is a bit distracting - could it be cloned out? |
