Paul, On your original showing the July 4 celebration lively scene. Your crop is effectively to bring out the mini cars. In such crowed scene use blur tool is necessary and helpful. On your image the blue car is sharp, but the top is blurred. Actually the top and body should has same distant from your camera, so the depth of field are same and should has same
blurriness. In such situation I usually use "Layer Mask" to do that. It can do more accurately and flexibility. If you did too much blurred, you can reduce and recover back what you want.

Amazing creative art work.
I like to use long exposure for flowing water, it create a smooths silky effect. I would more like w/out the moon and as original 2. I imagine this image was taken at night, the lighting should like at original 2. I am not sure the moon is naturally taken with other or added. The orange color of halo around the fresh new moon, would not be so strong. Between the orange color and sky should has mixing smooth transition color.

I am surprised that this photo was taken by a iPhone with such
sharpness. The diagonal composition I like. Personally I would
make up left and down right corners blur more and apply a little vignetting and increase a bit of saturation. |

Rich, You have a very distinctive composition with V shaped limbs framing, The bird like flying through the V frame. You did a perfect cleaning jobs, included moved the right wing to front of the limb and clean up the background all around.

Tom, This image shows a calm morning. When I viewing this image, my mood right immediately feels calm and peaceful.
The fog in original 1 is too thick, the picture become plain, the original 2 better and after you tweaking the final version is the better. On the right side house does not attract me. My eyes still stay on the red boat. For me I would blur more on the right side house fences.

Rich, Thank you for your comments.
The Clouds and fog are one of the famous features of Huangshan scenery, and they are also the love of photographers. Your questions "the lack of detail in the background", I think that is the effect of clouds and fog.
Most of my photos from this trip has such effect.
