1 Jan 25 Comment What a great image to show the raven large size, in it's environment. The depth of field is perfect. Jan 19th

7 Jan 25 Comment Very nicely done, and I like that the bottom of the vase is visible below the frame. Your depth of field is great, to have everything in focus. This must have been difficult with the frame in front of the flowers. The one flower in the lower left on the frame really adds a lot to the image. You are very creative to have set up and have taken this image.

The brightness of the frame is not too distracting, but I did play in Photoshop to darken the frame and made the flowers on the right side and the vase lighter.

7 Jan 25 Reply I agree to crop off part of the bottom. I had an old friend back in the darkroom days that like to crop in, and called the area around the area of interest, "finger print room". Meaning of course that you wouldn't have to be as careful when handling the negative to make sure that you fingers did not touch the negative and damage it with the oil on your fingers. However, I am sure that he was however careful and it was only an expression. His name is Gilbert Hill, and he was a long time member of PSA and was also an excellent newspaper photographer. I did consider him a friend and a great mentor. Jan 18th
7 Jan 25 Comment You really made the image with your editing. I am glad that you cropped in a lot. I will say that I agree with Barbara that you should crop more off the bottom, you don't need the bottom of the flag pole. The people add a lot to the image. I think that you made the flag too bright, it does not look realistic. Jan 18th
7 Jan 25 Comment Landscape photography might be just capturing nature, like you said, but the images allow others to see places and the time of day, weather conditions, and time of year that they may never be able to see.

You added a lot by taking the image at sunrise or sunset and using a good Kelvin temperature. Your artistry showed up in the exposure that you used, and the composition to include the tree leaning into the image on the far right. I like the image very much, and would not change a thing. It could be used on a calendar.

7 Jan 25 Comment Nice image of the pelican. The whites are very well exposed and not at all blown out as can easily happen. You also have a lot of texture in the white feathers, very well done. The reflection is nice and the wake behind the pelican shows movement. The water surface has a nice effect that is very appealing.

The image does not look like you are on a 15 foot cliff.

7 Jan 25 Comment Good eye to have seen this. I like the contrast between the hairy hoofs and the cowboy boots. The back lighting was handled well. I think that cowboy boots are a bit too dark. I used the shadows/highlights adjustment to bring up the shadows just slightly and bring down the highlights just slightly.

The second image has a distracting background.

9 Jan 25 Comment Great image to have both bees so sharp and with the one in flight toward the flower. It also tells a great story. Jan 19th

12 Jan 25 Comment Great image that really tells a story with the people at the bottom using cell phones to take pictures. Jan 19th

32 Jan 25 Comment The ripples make a nice pattern. Good contrast between the ripples and the smooth area behind them. Thank you for telling us the size of the ripples, it informs us of the size. Jan 9th
32 Jan 25 Comment It looks like a beautiful building area. I really like the symmetry of the image, with the black and white squares taking us straight into the center. The light reflections are a distraction. Jan 9th
32 Jan 25 Comment I like that you cropped off the branch in front of the bird. You caught the eagle with the wings partially spread out. I do like the color better. Thanks for the description of the location, and thanks for showing more images. My favorite is the next to last one, with all of the birds in it. Lots of confusion going on, but the two large birds at the top interacting are the center of interest. I really like that image. Jan 9th
32 Jan 25 Comment Good image of the young elephants playing. The background says "zoo picture" with the rock background, but that is not a bad thing. The out of focus background is fine, and there is a lot of separation from the elephants. I like the tight composition. Jan 9th
32 Jan 25 Comment I like the monochrome, it looks more like the title of Menace. I like the strap, and would leave it in, but like that the part of the lower hand was removed. I don't like that you lost the bottom part of the sword. I lighten that part before conversion to mono. Jan 7th
32 Jan 25 Reply Thanks, no I have not tried that. Jan 5th

57 Jan 25 Comment Very good to have noticed the bees. You captured an interesting image with the bee flying toward the bird fountain. You had to crop in too much, but at least you got a good image. I would have cropped it differently, to show more of the water below the bee, and less of the fountain. I did remove the out of focus bee on the left. Jan 20th
57 Jan 25 Comment The image is very sharp from edge to edge for such a macro shot. I never looked at cassette tapes that close to see the gears and detail. It makes me wonder what I have that I can photograph so close. The color does bother me, and I like the monochrome that Cindy showed us. Jan 20th
57 Jan 25 Comment Your editing really improved the image, and cropping in was the way to go. The out of focus flowers in the foreground don't bother me, as the eye goes straight to the bee. It looks to me that the bee should be in focus and sharper, but the tight crop has made it look not as sharp as we would like. I am sure that the children really enjoy the shot, and that it was a fun day. Jan 20th
57 Jan 25 Comment Very well done with the sharpness and depth of field. The green background and lighting work very well. I like the composition with the taller flower on the right. The "rules" say that 2 is not a good number of subjects, but 2 works very well here. Painting the jar silver was a great idea. I would not change a thing. Jan 20th
57 Jan 25 Comment Very sharp from edge to edge with good depth of field. It must have been great to have such a lovely plant in the backyard. I do agree with Cindy that it needs something to keep the viewer's eye. Jan 20th
