Good luck, it sounds like the perfect category to enter it in. I am sure none of them will comment about the leaf being cut off. I would not have noticed if Gaetan had not made his comment. The hummingbird and flower have so much impact that it will not be noticed. |

It is an interesting image with the reflections. Very much an abstract image. I like it. |

Great image, and I agree that the bees add to the image. You captured the image at the perfect time, and the flash stopped the motion. The yellow flower was a perfect choice. The leaf being cut off does not bother me. That being said, unless you are making a 5x7 print, I don't think that adding a bit on the right to include the entire leaf would be noticed by the viewer. I have some nature purists that would say that this is not nature since the flower is cultivated.
Looking at the full image that you included, I would say that there are LOTS of bees in the area. |

I think that is what is now called "street" photography as it tells a story of people that you would see while on a stroll. I think that it has good composition and I like the pole on the right side to help hold a viewer in the image. The lighting is good, especially for the men being under a covering. The bike adds to the image and I really like the man on the left looking toward you. It does tell a story very well. |

The lighting is very good, and the image is very sharp. As Butch mentioned, the leg has a real problem.
It has been a long time since I was a salon judge or was viewing the catalogs, so I do not know current trends. When I was doing so, the models that did the best were doing something or had an article of clothing that added interest. |

Beautiful image. It was an excellent job of conversion from film. I agree with what Butch and Gaetan said. It would make a great print on a wall or could be used on a calendar. It would be a metal winner in a competition. |

You have a sharp and well composed image of this beautiful animal. The depth of field and background are good. I will agree with Butch about not seeing the eye and not seeing the tongue at first. I would suggest that you go back and try to take more images of this unique animal. |

The lighter tone cannons are made of brass (so not needed to be painted) and smooth bore, the black cannons are steel with riflings (spiral grooves) and so had to be painted to keep from rusting. So the tones are historical. |

It seems like rodeo pictures almost always have people in the background, and it is nice to know that the two in your image are judges. You captured a good time in the action and the dirt flying up shows a lot of motion. Your image does have a lot of noise, but it seems like most rodeos are at night and in poorly lighted arenas. This requires a really high ISO to stop motion. The image that I showed added last month to your image was taken during daytime, but it was not a regular rodeo. |

Thanks for the great story. It is good that the cousins have restored the house and preserving it. The house looks very nice and having a person in the image adds a lot to it. I do like that Wes added some contrast to it. You could crop some off the left so that the stairway would be more of a lead in, but that would make it into a more square format. And it would remove the woman from the center. |

You totally changed the image, like going from day to night. I really like the mono, and the backlighting on the hair outlines the bear very well. Like Stephen said, the image really has a lot of impact. With no motion shown in the bear, you really can't tell that it is shaking the water off, without knowing that is where the water drops are coming from. While a slower shutter speed would show motion, then the droplets would not be sharp. |

Great closeup of the lion. It is very sharp and good separation from the back ground, with the hair really showing up against the white. I would not worry about the eyes not being fully open -- looks like he is resting. You did a really good job of taking the image through a wire fence. I think that using mono and your conversion to it are very good. I would not worry about the rock edge that Diana mentioned, the detail of the lion holds the viewer interest there. |

Good job of capturing the singer. Darkening the area behind the singer was a good idea and well done. I would say he, because of the hair on the arms. I like the mono better, as the color has so much color that they are over powering. I would leave the eyes alone. After reading your replies, it sounds like it was not real easy getting this image. |

Thank you, that is a really big complement because I really like your photography. I did of course take images of the lock turned the other way, but I liked the golden toned small plate with Atlas on it. |

Very interesting that you have three different rocks of different sizes and textures, but similar colors. I like the composition, but two of the rocks are pretty close to the edge. While we normally want the background to be blurred, which it is in your main image, I think that I like original one better. I like the contrast between the smooth rocks and texture of the red rocks in the background. One reason to have the background blurred is for separation from the subjects, and the color separates them this time. |

The dying flower is very sharp with good textures and colors. I like that a partial leaf in included. I like the background that you used, and it shows good separation from the flower. Very nice image, and it does tell a story. |

As you can tell, I like old rusty items, so I of course like this image. This is a great find from an old school bus. The stop light with the cracked lens is the star of the image but I also like the texture of the rusty areas around the lights and the areas of blue/grey. I also like the area below the lights as the diverging lines seem to denote that it is broken. I am wondering if you would have a stronger image if you only showed the stop light and not both it and the yellow light. One of the photography rules is not to have 2 items, and I think that it applies this time. |

Great impact with the red and yellow flower against the green leaves. You have good depth of field with the flower and leaves in the foreground sharp and the leaves behind the flower blurred. I agree with Cindy that you should crop off the yellow area at the top. I hope to see some of the images of the open flower. |
